I have recieved 2 Exotic weapons since hitting level 20 and they have both been shotguns - Invective (Bounty), and the Universal Remote (legendary special weapon engram). I have used both extensively in PvP and PvE. After levelling both up to achieve all of the passives, I can't help but feel that these guns are underrated.
1. Invective has single handedly won me Rumble matches when all of my opponents are armed with similar kill-twitch builds. The auto fire combines with the "final round" to take down targets at a surprising range (especially if they are running away). Invective is also a valuable tool in situations such as the templar fight in the Vault of Glass where I use it to take out Oracles and additional spawns with ease and speed. And you never have to worry about running out of ammo, even if you have to turtle in a cave to regen shields, etc.
2. The Universal Remote is the weapon I equip if I am sniping in PvP. There are several maps where the extreme ranges fit every scenario you might encounter. And while it is indeed weakm when you first recieve it, once the unique bonus is unlocked the range and stopping power go through the roof. The biggest drawback is the fire rate, which being so slow, requires you to connect with every shot if you are outnumbered. In PvE the Remote is useful as Primary ammo is more plentiful than special and it's great for melting elite enemies or easily dispatching trash.
