more or less right other than destiny is an FPSRPG, not an MMO, but I've given up arguing that point as people seem to not understand the term anyway
-
Destiny has only begun, but I feel like Bungie and Activision made it this way, promising a huge future, to suck up our money. It's all in DLC and future games! I will of course buy it because I truly love Destiny, but I wish the gaming industry would stop being in it 100% for the money.

Edited by Gohlar: 9/17/2014 4:53:21 PMI like Destiny but that is a straight up fanboy article. I could give example after example. It's laughable!

Edited by ShadowNinja77: 9/17/2014 7:04:38 PMGame is great, everything is fun, it's something new people are still playing it & the longer I play it the more I see how good it is. Is it the best thing ever known to mankind? No but it is enjoyable & quite frankly I am tired of people going on over the same things when they either haven't thoroughly looked into it or simply repeat what 50 other complaining posts said just to get on the glorious trending section. Destiny is better then games from the Atari days if you don't like it don't repost what other people said, go back to the store, get your money, & go back to your halo glory days because you can't stand Bungie tried some things differently for once. Now regarding companies, reviewers & game journalist they are slowly becoming more & more invalid - companies are treating games like a freaking busisness they don't see it as fun they see it as busisness they are no longer looking out for gamers interest the original gaming companies did because it was more passion & focused around a smaller meta of close knit fun loving gamers, not anymore which is good but also bad, we as a community must tell them what we actually think & want. XBOX vs PS vs PC - No one CARES we just want to game, subscription fee's are evil abominations, DLC i'm ify about but I understand the economic benefit of it & that when I buy a DLC it gives more money to a company I trust to make good more fun content. Reviews I like reviews but that's where it ends I like to hear them & maybe even consider them if they're highly valid but do I let them tell me if a game is good or not for me? no. I trust official review companies less then say Angry Joe type reviewers, because they are a company going by company think & not gamer think. As a company you may want to ruin a opponent, praise 1, be accurate but controversial - no I much rather trust a gamers thoughts & if you show me your thinking like a gamer you have my attention. Journalist. Highly under-rated now their are some really good ones & the good ones mostly aren't extremely highly overly famous they're just hard working passionate people about they're work however we all know the infamous bad player skills of some (not all) reviewers & journalist. Semi-Rant over - thank you for listening politely.

Completely agree with this review. Destiny has all the trademark tells of a progressive MMO. Looking forward to a lot of these reviewers eating their words in a year when it's still going strong.

Problem is, most people pre-ordered this game with certain assumptions based on what we were told the game was going to be, and who it would appeal to. As a stand alone game: Destiny is OK. As a franchise: it's too hard for anyone to speculate on. Given all the misinformation provided by Bungie, Activision, and media sites (like IGN, and Games*), things will be murky until a month, or two, after each release. I do find this review enjoyably hypocritical though. On one hand, he mocks those who bought into the hype, and pre-release fabrications; while on the other, his glorified, baseless predictions of Destiny's ten year future merely fuel the hype-train. It does seem a lot of people are making a lot of excuses for Destiny's shortcomings; rather than just sitting down, and enjoying an OK game. There's nothing wrong with a bit of mindless fun :)

Edited by Malismo: 9/18/2014 11:10:21 AMIt is my opinion this guys gets it. On top of that he is playing the game instead of writing up another piece of biased premature junk. Free content packs being released, not talking DLC here, meaning with no additional cost. Who knows how often they will be doing this? Most other relatively comparable console games don't do this at all. Destiny is a different beastie, good or bad, allow for the dust to settle so you can actually see what is front of you. Hype is just dust you put in front of your own eyes, if you would have stepped lightly in the first place it would not have gone airborne on you ;).

Bump! Good find xH8Rx Matt!

Edited by Kind of Ben: 9/17/2014 9:48:56 PMI love it when people actually understand this game. That article made me feel warm and fuzzy inside. +10 Confidence in GamesRadar.

it is a good read, but you can understand people being a bit miffed off when you go you pay £45 for your game and it comes you play for a week hit the cap and people say, 'there is more to come' well thats great but i paid for my game i would of prefered it come complete... and so far we are just going on what they say, what they do in the future might suck! there is going to be future costs, which sounds like we bought something in complete but it will get better...... and that will cost you more money... they gave you unfinished product but for finished product prices. I love the game, i hope they build on it for years to come but i can see why this approach is causing grief with the community.
-
This is closer to the truth than most reviews that I've seen this far; I would've liked to see a mention of how the franchise is going to be getting content as a whole for close to ten years. But overall, pretty well written.
-
I just wish people that don't like it would just stop playing. I'm sick of hearing everyone crying. The sad part is all the people crying about paying a little money spread out over 10 years for dlc, are the same Dbags that still buy the same COD game every 6 mouths.

Edited by IamJohan: 9/17/2014 5:58:50 PMWrong. This is the most relevant thing about Destiny right now; If this isn't fixed the game will fail, and fail very rapidly: http://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/69599965/0/0

I love the game and I am having a blast with it, but the looting system is absolutely broken and totally unfair, both in pvp and pve.... i don t understand how ppl can defend this... is absolutely frustrating... try to work 16 hours of ur real life and being paid with a bag of nuts.... while your office mate got a rolex for the same job

Edited by A1TracMind: 9/17/2014 10:34:52 AMSorry but one of the comments nailed it on the head: There's still terrible story telling, terrible dialogue, terrible balance with PvP, terrible boss mechanics, and dint even get me started on the loot. This "review" sounds more like it was written by the PR guy at bungie rather than an unbiased reviewer. Still a 6/10 game.

to much focus on light level for any customazation atm as its better to go with the armour with higher light than the armour that supports your playstyle as not being debuffed against enemies is far more pressing than shaving off a few percent on cooldowns people tend to be hiding behind "the games not finished" for the lack of any characters with any depth I could care about the 1st hour of Mass effect 3 has more characterization than all of destiny and im pretty sure only being an hour in your no where near the end at its core destiny is an amazing shooter with a decent progression system and gameplay worthy of being game of the year but everything is dragging it down to the point where the only defence is to either deny its a problem or say its not finished yet
-
Definitely agree about other reviewers jumping to the chase too fast. I think we all figured out that the level 1 - 20 transition was really just the in-game tutorial that sets the stage for Destiny, it seems so obvious really. The level system is to help ease you into this world and get ready and gear up and master skills piece by piece.

Most reviews were put out before the raid was even unlocked, they lost all credibility to me at that point.

-
Yes, all of this is so true. I tried to articulate all of this about the game really starting at level 20, but I lose focus pretty fast.

Smart peeps at games radar

Finally a reviewer who is reviewing Destiny how it should be.

Great article, thanks for sharing OP

More people should read this.

He makes some very great points. I definitely like his explanations for everything. Can't wait for the three free content expansions. :)
