Everyone needs to chill out and stop bashing Bungie...

Ok let's just get this straight. Bungie did not intend to give you everything all at once with Destiny. From day one, the game was meant to be an evolving environment. When you bought the game, you only recieved a small portion of it to start with. There will be expansions, DLCs, and more content throughout all aspects of the game to be released in the future. With how small the released game currently is, it's not possible to spend as much money on it as they had. This section of the game simply doesn't cost that much to produce. The simple point I'm trying to make is that you all need to chill out, seriously. If you thoroughly researched this game before you bought it, you would know that it would be kept alive for years to come with the release of more content and a growing storyline. They kept it vague for a reason. Holy shit, your character was dead for centuries before you started playing! Therefore, it makes complete sense that the story is so vague at the start. Mankind recently came out of a dark age, a lot of your knowledge was lost. Throughout your gamplay experience, you will discover more and more, and one day, you will have the entire story, and I promise it will be a rewarding experience. I'm sure they have their reasons for slowly releasing all of the content. It could be a way of balancing out the power of players across the game, it could be way to draw the Destiny gaming community closer together as we all gear ourselves for future releases. Whatever their reason is, they have an excellent track record, despite what some of you are criticizing them for. Some of you are bashing Halo: Reach and Halo 4, but lets face it, they are STILL some of the best games to be released. Bungie knows what they're doing. They may have some internal issues within their development team, but they will work it out. If you don't believe it will get better, than think of it like this. They spent almost $500 million on marketing this game alone. That should tell you right there that they won't stop updating it and won't stop bringing us new and exciting content. They are capitalists, and they will make sure the game stays interesting enough for us to stick around for years to come. Period. (FYI this is the first game of it's kind, and was an extremely challenging project. Props to you Bungie, you guys did a great job. I know it couldn't have been easy/still isn't easy. Keep up the hard work, and we'll keep playing.)

  • So the way I'm understanding it is that everyone that bought Destiny basically bought an in progress game template to which provided access to dlc that theoretically makes the game nearer completion? Is that even legal or ethical business practice?

GTA5=$250million budget, has huge-as world, story, golf and tennis games, MP, and a shit ton more stuff Destiny=$500 million budget, has a shell of a world and a small MP? Looking at it simply by that, it's impossible for something that appears to be hollow to cost more than GTA5. These numbers include the budget, so if Destiny has less content, then it should be cheaper than GTA, but it's twice as expensive, and the amount of Advertising we see doesn't build to that number either. They must have a gigantic list of content lined up in the weeks to come.

    • Did not say product incomplete at time of purchase!!! If I showed you an Xbox 1 (destiny) in the shop charged you full price and when you took it home you found out it was a hollow case (destiny) and the rest will be delivered if you buy the parts (DLC's) over the next 10years oh and you have to pay for them would u not be annoyed of course you would... But after watching tv for 10 minutes you see 4xbox 1's (halo) for less money and a beta without a deposit and a tv show I think you get the picture... I work hard for my money I expect what most expect.... An ending

    • More mission variety, and even just having the grimiore in game would have quelled a lot of the negativity. Mindless bashing isn't helpful of course but there are some serious issues that need addressing. Bungie has responded to some already, we need to keep it up.

    • you do realize, if bungie doesn't knock it out the park with its initial release and draw and immerse players into the Destiny universe, the majority of the player base will not buy the DLC. Most will say "game sucks" and move on, then BAM! 500 million down the drain. No one wants to buy 4 dlc's to realize, hey this is a great game. They are not gonna think, this is a tiny bit of the universe which sucks right now and is super boring, but i'm sure its gonna get better after buying 100 dollars worth of expansions. People don't gamble, they just move on to another game as there are many out there. Players want to buy the initial game and think, damn this game is so awesome I wanna buy every expansion, not vice versa (see above). next dlc should be free and kick it up a notch in terms of story/immersion, and adding social elements to the game (npc's, and getting players to interact with each other and the universe/environments. Make us want to explore). Make us want to purchase the DLC content, cause so far, its been lackluster.

Destiny is still a fun game but it was over hyped. Much like Watch Dogs. Gamers also had expectations very high considering their Halo legacy. Best case this game will end up like Diablo 3. When Diablo 3 first came out it was good, but could of been much better. Two years later with the expansion and various changes per community feedback the game evolved to something far better. Assuming Bungie listens to the good community feedback this game will be get better over the years.

      • The game is there in spirit but I feel a large number of the complaints are legitimate. It was hyped to be more than what it is, but I think Bungie is absolutely capable of correcting the issues provided they listen to valuable and well founded input from fans.

        • I think the older gamers (I'm 20) understand what Bungie did with this game and the younger ones just want everything to be handed to them. I love the aspect of grinding to get certain things because it adds longevity and that's why I'm still playing. Those of you complaining about drops and stuff need to quit, although I do agree that if you do really well you deserve something rare and up, but I think bungie has done very well with this game. I believe casuals will have a hard time adapting to this.

Thank you! So many long term "gamers" claiming they got duped by the hype, or that bungie just lied and made shit up. Yet there's not a single real gamer I know that buys into hype or purchases a game without properly researching it. People just wanted another Halo and now that that's not what they're getting they have their panties in a wad.

            • I agree as well. People should actually play the game and see for themselves instead of listening to a bunch of people who don't like this game for stupid reasons.

            • Agreed! This game is being judged way to harshly. Yes, it's true that it doesn't live up to the hype. But it's still a damn awesome game! I can't stop playing it.

Bungie needs to fix their shit. PvP is broken, loot drops are broken, and strike bosses suck.

                • The game is a sub-par shell, missing some of the most basic requirements for a multiplayer game and it's even worse at telling a story.

                • Yes the first of is kind is an accurate statement. As in, the fist time i have payed $60 for a game but it wasn't actually a game, just an empty shell with a promise of more to come. I don't know about you but i will never buy a Bungie product again for fear of receiving only a portion of the game.
