Some Clarification Regarding Expansions

Alright, so reading through posts on this forum, it seems people are not entirely on board with the plans for future expansions and such, and I thought it would be good to hash it out here. According to Bungie, the game series will span across three years. The content we get on launch IS NOT all there will be. Think of the launch content as the base, and Bungie will progressively start building the house. Now as for the release schedule: -Launch (9/9/14) -Confirmed DLC: The Dark Below and The House of Wolves (December, already available for purchase with Expansion Pass or contained Exclusive Editions. These will add maps, more STORY *ahem*, potentially game modes, at least one raid per DLC >leaked<, and other things to keep us going) -Comet 1 (A year from launch, cost unconfirmed but hinted at being free. This is a massive expansion, which seems to be much larger than DLCs but somewhat smaller than the actual game.) -Destiny 2 (A year after the first Comet, and two years after the launch of the first Destiny game. This must be purchased like Destiny 1, but is supposedly another addition to the already expanding Destiny universe. I have read that your character carries over, so Destiny 2 will pick up right where you have left off.) The game then follows this pattern until we hit ten years of the game, with Comet 2, Destiny 3, and soforth. Also woven between these major release dates are purchasable DLCs adding even more content, patches tweaking the game, and potential minor free updates included in a patch adding little bits of content. Destiny ain't gonna disappoint if each expansion holds a decent amount of content. Reading the posts, the current issue with Destiny is not the mechanics, art design, server problems (for the most part, that is), or even so the fun in the content we already have. The problem at hand is that people think that what we got at launch isn't enough, and are afraid that what we got immediately is what we have to deal with for 10 years. Don't worry,
All in due time. :)
Edit: Ten years of Destiny, not three years. Edit 2: If anyone can help find sources to back this information up, it would be greatly appreciated and added to this post.

 • Thanks for clarifying this. This is exactly what I thought Bungie was going to be doing, perhaps with adding some missions that use pre-existing locations, but only last for a limited amount of time. I wouldn't mind if this is how Bungie plans to continue expanding Destiny. However, what's your source for this information? Was this revealed at a games conference or article of some sort? I just want to make sure this information is legitimate.
