Bladedancer in PvE?

I decided I want to stray from my warlock and try out the Hunter. I'm not particularly fond of the Gunslinger class but I was wonder how Bladedancer is in PvE? I've heard it isn't a good choice but does anyone have some insight into the matter?

  • I hadn't realised that Arc Blade teleported you to nearby enemies, even those in the air (I'm talking about you, annoying wizard). I had worried it would be useless in bigger fights. The downside us that when it runs out, you are often in the middle of a bunch if enemies and vulnerable. I was about to give up and go back to Gunslinger but will see how it develops.

  • The best use for Bladedancer in pve that I've found is for clearing trash mobs between and during boss fights, and reviving the everyone.
With both invisibility abilities equipped, you can cross almost any size room and start reviving someone before your cloak wears off. AI enemies will completely ignore you, so you can even revive someone in the middle of a firefight, if their corpse doesn't still have aggro. It's also great for escaping bad situations. If you can handle taking a shot or two more, using your melee invisibility will almost always let you escape. All of the trainings you can choose from go into speed, and you take Shadowjack to extend invisibility. The build is also viable in PvP with a shotgun (though you may want more armor) and everyone will hate you forever.
I have dubbed this build Shadowdancer, and so it shall be named.

  • I love using it . Its just so much fun turning in to a spinning murder top that can clear whole rooms in seconds. The big thing about Bladedancer is just learning when to use it . FYI its no the best for bosses

    • BD is a risk vs reward. Its melee so you have to get in close to make it happen. In pve you take quite a bit of dmg with how squishy we are. However it decimates trash mobs. Ultras take between 3 and 5 swipes unless you crit. My biggest complaint is the orb production. You get next to none. Compared to my lock friend whose aoe drops like 7 orbs at a time, I only create like 1-4. The skill will get better however as you rank it up. You start getting invisibility, extended duration, and fire. In strikes it can be decent, again I go back to the melee dmg. You will probably die and that can wipe the grp and thats obviously bad news bears. If your in a grp of mobs with red health bars go nuts. If theres an ultra or a sheilded tread carefully or gun him down b4 you make with the edward scissorhands In pvp it can decimate in objective based gametypes. In control for example, you run in bs one shot everyone and cap the point. In tdm style matches its more advantageous to go with gs because you dont wanna step into the ring with a titan. - j lvl 24 hunter

I'm basically doing strikes with friends atm. When were not fighting a boss when i enter a room enter have my ulti ready i usually clear the room in a few seconds when i pop it so the rest can collect orbs and move to next big room. During boss fights I tent to just hammer at the boss until the adds spawn, thats where the bladedancers shines. I can clear a whole pack in a matter of seconds so my friends (titan and warlock) kan just keep going for the boss. By the time the next pack spawn i have picked up some orbs and my ulti i ready again for some ninja dashes :) Hope this helps, every class has his own "job" in PVE Strikes

    • Personally, I don't like to think in terms of one class being better than another. They are all equally good at what they do. Where they DO differ is in there level of complexity. Titan class is by far the easiest to play. With a blast aoe super and attack/defense based specs, they are the most resilient class and don't take very much skill to play effectively. Titans are perfect for close combat. Warlocks are more intermediary, with a focus on mid ranged aoe and support. They are more squishy than titans but have a lot more damage potential at midrange. Hunters are by far the most complex class. With a focus on precision attacks (even when knifing), if you suck at aiming you won't get the most out of this class. That being said, I play as a hunter and I am not great at it but I still think it is the most fun class to play. The difficulty of the class makes it that much more fulfilling when you do something cool. That goes for pve and pvp.

    • It looks fun for sure. I was just worried since many of the later enemies and bosses have very strong close range attacks

I use blade dancer in pve and pvp. In pve it's not effective versus some enemies. But it's great for clearing spread out small fry in a hurry. The invisibility is nice too

    • The super is RIDICULOUS in medium sized packs of mobs. That said, I'm only 17 and, as such, have only gotten a couple of levels of bladedancer upgrades in.

    • Its situational. Gunslinger is high damage potential against a single target from a reasonably safe distance. I use Bladedancer as an ambush class. Wait til you see a large group of enemies, stay in cover and get close then pop Arc Blade and burn through them in seconds.
