Voice chat bug (voice too low) (PS4)

Edit 5: I'm just gonna scrap this whole thing because otherwise more idiots will flow in and I'm done with replying to them. Issue In-game voice chat volume too low. Game audio (music, SFX etc.) is too loud to hear other's speaking over voice chat except when literally nothing is happening. Conditions 1) Using the in-game voice chat 2) Headset connected to DualShock 4's 3.5mm jack 3) All audio comes through headset (Adjust Devices -> Output to Headphones -> All Audio) Attempted fixes All possible settings in the game and in PS4's system menu. Additional information The problem is only apparent in Destiny. No other game has too low voice chat volume. Headset does not adjust separete volume levels (voice chat or game audio) Problem persist through restarting the game, the system, reconnecting whatever is possible to reconnect. I've had it for the whole time after the game's launch. Issue is apparently happening to some who have a headset that's not connected through the controller's jack and can change voice chat / game audio volumes separately. Some don't experience this issue at all. So far no reports of this happening on Xbox. If Destiny had options to change different volume levels (music/SFX/voice chat/ambient sounds) or at the very least a setting for all the game's audio volume and voice chat volume, this problem could be partially solved through that. Edit: I'm still seeing replies suggesting that the "fix" to this bug in the game is using a headset that has separate volume controls for game and voice chat volumes. You have to understand - the difference is huge, it's like if there was a slider for chat / game volume in the options the voice was set to 10% and the game was set to 100%. Edit 2: Can someone confirm whether or not a headset that allows you to change voice chat / game volumes separately affects the in-game voice chat volume (separately of the other audio coming from the game)? Someone commented that it does not, saying that only the game's master volume can be changed.

  • I had this happen to me yesterday, went crazy looking for more audio options. In the end, quitting the PS party (not the Destiny strike team but the party when you go to headphones icon in ps4) returned volume to normal.

Guys, I was having the exact same problem with the Sony 5.1 Bluetooth headphones. This is what I found: There's a button on the left headphone "sound - chat". Press chat all the way down. Adjust the volume to near max. Set your party settings to "prioritize chat" It worked for me. And yes, I do confirm that this affects the in game chat volume.

  • I've noticed this issue too. therefore i set my output to Chat only and had the music/SFX/ambien sounds come from the TV. (do not like but its my only option) However i also noticed that my razer pro headphones only channel voice chat trough the left headphone, not the right. however music/game music/ videos, will channel sound trough both headphones.......i find this odd. Anyone else having this issue?

    • It's psn's shoddy connections, destiny eats at your bandwidth and takes away from what's usually there for voice chat, cause as we all know, Sony has those stupid little bandwidth caps on your console~

      • Agreed, having same issue with in-game chat. Could not get it to work at all and had to use PSN Party Chat (was still too quiet)

          • I must admit I haven't read ALL the replies. But try this... Open your party menu, on the side there should be box to adjust audio, it's like an option that allows you to adjust the mix of the party/game audio coming through the headphones. I'm very sorry my reply is so vague but this is what I use to adjust my audio mix to a level that's workable. I do know sometimes the game gets VERY loud and it can be hard to hear.

              • Yeah, I am on the verge of certainty that no one, from development, through to QA, ever tried to actually play with a fireteam using a headset for both game and voice audio on PS4, which was obviously the lead SKU dev platform for this game. It's atrocious, and there's not a single audio slider to allow players to fix it. I've played $5 PSN titles with sliders for BGM, SE, and Voice Comms, but not this billion dollar megafranchise? Incompetence.

                  • Actually an issue I was having yesterday was when I joined my friends, I couldn't hear them but they could hear me. I'm not sure whether it is a bug in game or just something wrong with my headset.

                      • Only option for you apparently is to set it so only game chat goes to headset but then you can't hear the game personally they should just dim out the game noise when someone talks it's a good way of doing it

                        • Enable your audio settings for the headset as chat audio only, turn TV volume to mute, and make all the game sound effects yourself with your own voice. That way YOU can control when you hear what.

                          • I think it's caused by the headset... Yes, I totally agree. Bungie needs to add options for in game volume, slider bars for music, FX and chat volume.

                              • I have the same problem. I have to create a party and change ps4 setting to chat only to hear my frds. If you keep it in all audio then you can't hear any of the chats. That's why I don't play with fireteams.

                                • I am actually having a similar problem.with my PS3. Did you try doing a hard reset? Sometimes if you restart the system after giving it about 10 seconds (make sure you unplug the headset first), it helps.

                                    • Have you tried pairing it? Everytime I switch my Turtle Beach px3's from my ps3 to my ps4 I always have to pair it again. It's quite annoying having to do it everytime but least it works. To make sure it's paired go to your device settings and audio level (where you can see/change mic sensitivity). Pair it while your on that menu so you can see if your mic is sending out your voice. As for in game volume you need to make sure your audio is hooked up correctly. either a piggy back cable/rca hooked to an audio out into your headset hook up. Also since it's a third party headset you can't change chat volume, only game volume. (at least for me.) /:

Put " Chat audio " through headset/ mic. Not "all audio". If it's bother you that much, might as well split the sound
