Possibly made PSN unlock Destiny early
I had my ps4 downloading free psn games in the background. Then I changed timezone to the earliest one. Then I kept changing the date +2 days and kept going to Destiny and trying to open then repeat for about 3 minutes. It eventually removed a day and said 15 hours left. Did not try to get it to lessen as the servers aren't up till tomorrow so might as well keep the 15 hours. See if you can get similar results. I'm leaving my console on and will report back if it works. Might just be a visual glitch but we'll see. Maybe I can play tomorrow whenever the severs turn on whether that be exactly when Australia is 12am or US est 12am.
Update: Someone in the comments reported at 0 it resets to the right time. Fun while it lasted lol. Thx for joining in my dumb enthusiasm! ;(

1 ReplyMaybe I'm wrong, but I think Destiny servers are down until the game is released. I saw a timetable yesterday of countries and when the servers are up again. Here in Australia they will be up today at 10pm. Also got a message from EB games telling me I can pick up my copy from 10pm today.

Has anyone noticed that New Zealand is hosted on the EU Playstation servers? Strange coincidence too, that when it turns 9/9 in NZ, the Destiny servers in EU go live... So if Destiny was bought in the EU PSN store, how likely is it they check locations (say NZ or UK)?

2 RepliesI have done a little playing around with this and it doesnt seem to matter what timezone you set it at. you simply just add a couple days manually to your dat/time. But the software engineer in me thinks this is just the countdown till the next time it checks the PSN servers for licenses/auto updates/game save backups ect. so whats going to happen is when timer goes off it will check the purchase/license and see it was a US PSN purchase and correct the time and not allow you to launch the game.

I'd change it back if I were you. some guys on 360 got banned about a year ago for trying the same thing with the BF4 beta

3 RepliesEdited by Scrub8247: 9/7/2014 4:58:54 PMOk guys it's like this...If you up and move to Australia, you have to setup your ps or xbox again, by this I mean set your new location and time zone...So once you set it up, you'd now be on Australia time, which is a day ahead of the U.S. which now means it's already Monday there and just Sunday here. When Monday 8/8 hits 12:01 am Australia and becomes 9/9, the game unlocks and u play..Here in the states it's stll Monday, just 12 hours behind... So will the game play, yes....just like if you were in Australia, even though you're here..Kids wanna say it doesn't or won' t work....try it and you'll see...In any case, anyone that does this, will be playing it early, I know I will...

to get this to work properly will need to get a dns code so make the console think its in that time zone or in that area in the world like you do with netflix

3 RepliesI tried moving my time zone back on my one but when the time zone was set to the earliest possible time I could not open any digital games. Just put the splash screen up then go back to home screen.

1 ReplySony servers send or make a key file available once its cleared in the timezone of the store you bought it in. So if you bought it in the EU/UK shop youll be playing 0;00 GMT, bought it in the US shop and your IP is from the eastcoast, youll be playing at 3 AM
