I handled a few pulse rifles and they just seemed shit compared to the scout rifles and auto rifles with decent stability. You can get by in co-op, but it just seems like you loose the edge in pvp
-
I can't hit anything with them. :/
-
I loved the pulse. I liked every gun I used
-
Yeah, I thought the burst would be more accurate, but the shingen-c is more stable than all the pulse rifles I tried. If one has a decent recoil and stability so that the third bullet isn't shooting over the target than they might be better and worth using. I expect them to be in between a scout and auto rifle, there is still hope, depending on the different type of upgrades traits the weapon can have combined with clip and reserve ammo amounts, maybe the rare and better are usable, I had found a rare one I would have liked to use. One thing I did remember is they had fast baseline reload time, coupled with chain of woe and armor with increased reload for pulse rifles, it was probably the fastest compared to all the other primaries and maybe faster even than my shingen's empty clip bonus on top of the others but that's a pretty close one that I'm not sure on.

Edited by geckorepublican: 8/3/2014 9:53:13 PMI find the problem with the Pulse Rifles is that due to it's instability I find it difficult to land head shots with all 3 bursts with targets that have small heads (i.e. Dregs, Vandals, Thralls, etc.) causing a much lower damage output than both the Auto Rifles and Scout Rifles. With Auto Rifles and Scout Rifles I am able to consistently get head shots in both PvP and PvE which is why I prefer those two weapon categories. Edit: Yes I was disappointed.
-
Slightly disappointing, yes. I was expecting a battle rifle from halo but I got a squirt gun.
-
Hail hydra!!!!
-
I was disappointed.
-
I did as well with the Pulse rifle as I did with the Auto rifle. Probably just isn't your thing.
-
The delay between shots limits your dps way to much.
-
Ya agreed
-
Pulse rifles are a healthy option and are high in fibre. Mine shoots lentils.

Edited by Rat Tongue: 8/3/2014 6:53:23 PMIt's basically a hybrid of both the Auto and the Scout, but lacks all of the good qualities of either one.
-
The thing is I used the Auto like a Pulse. Controlled burst is the best way to use an automatic rifle like that. As for the Pulse it does the work for you. The main difference is ammo capacity. Auto allows for you to make more shots so it's got the advantage.
-
The recoil and spread on them is not very good and the damage doesn't make up for it. From my experience, I found auto rifles gave me the advantage in the majority of situations.
-
Ever notice how a pulse rifle and an auto rifle do the same damage ? How is that fair if one is automatic and one is burst fire?
-
I'm pretty sure red death would disagree with you
-
No. They ate awesome
-
I thought it worked ok. My pulse was fine. All in how you use it.

Edited by AndrewDoobs: 8/3/2014 6:57:31 PMI wanted to love the pulse rifle. I wanted to have a pulse rifle/shotgun/minigun load out. I wanted to. My opinion from the beta is that there isn't anything a pulse rifle can do that an auto rifle can't do better. Which is a major disappointment. I sure hope the rifles are balanced a little better, because otherwise I'm going to run an autorifle/sniper/rocket launcher load out.
-
I felt the same way. The I like the pulse rifle in pve. and it seemed to be the only unique guns that I would get. But when I went into the pvp a scout rifle was a much better choice for ranged and a auto rifle was much better at close range.
-
Yeah, I was really disapointed with the pulse rifles as well
-
Oh dude, totally. I did a ton of damage per second tests and the pulse rifles are unquestionably underpowered compared to the scout and auto rifles.
