Moon mission at 9pm for two hours???
I cant be the only one that thinks this is a joke.
First the iron banner now the moon mission and reward only at 9pm on a Saturday night.
Not all gamers are anti social, i will be going out tonight and therefor not able to play your so far rather awesome and addictive game.
Anyway i dont want to complain too much so i ask you Deej n Co at Bungie, please confirm that events like this are going to be better organized after release

I played the moon mission quickly before heading to work and was wondering if the one mission which was the only one available was the one I had to play to get the banner or if there was something else I had to do. For events I will make basic killed enemies, until I got to the last area I believe I scanned something at some point and then a cutscene at the end showing the person in the back ground from the first mission (tutorial). If I missed something can you tell me so I know what I did wrong and why I'm not getting a banner for an event I participated in.

They're hoping that 99% of the community ends up playing the moon mission at the same time to see how their servers handle the load. If they announced the moon mission being available for 24hrs then they wouldn't even come close to that figure as everyone will spread out as its convenient for them. To reach this goal they sweetened the pot with the exclusive, pointless IMHO, beta banner. They are doing these tests during the weekend in US timezones because A) Bungie is a US company and you cant expect all hands to be on deck for potential problems at 3am in their morning when it's convenient to you; B) US likely has more people playing the Destiny beta by far; and C) They wouldn't get a fraction of the stress during a weekday- like it or not more people are available on a Saturday afternoon/evening than any other point in time. After launch there will still be timed events to keep things changing/people looking forward to things, but there won't be as much need for stress testing so the events will likely take a more global timezone friendly approach. [spoiler]Also, if I were a betting man, Id wager everything that the moon will be available sometime Saturday evening (US time 7 or 9 PST) and Sunday day (probably 10, 2, 7 PST). Remember the Iron Banner was suppose to be super exclusive too, and now look at it.[/spoiler]

You cant please everyone, those of us here in the US have the time slot of 2pm-5pm depending on your time zone. It sucks that the UK people don't have as good as one but then again if they did then the US players would get shafted. Like it or not Bungie IS a US company and they ARE doing their work in the US on a US time table so they also need to pick a time that works best for them.

1 ReplyI get that its always going to be annoying for someone but what i meant is that after release are they always going to be so short and at set times, why isn't it for longer or several short events throughout the day?

Well they do monitor the peaks and lows of activity in the game. They know how many people are on at one time and keep track of all that. So they will base events around that regardless of people individual schedules.

Have they nerfed the moon missions specifically for the Beta or are we supposed to go straight from russia to the moon in the full game too? I thought Earth was going to include a set of zones. Hence, perhaps we're supposed to travel back n forth through the universe in the full game, in contrast to knocking out one planet at a time.

2PM PST = 5PM EST. The event lasts for two hours, but I think it will be longer. The same principle was stated for the Iron Banner Crucible but it's been open for three hour windows yesterday and today.

3 RepliesOf course they'll be better organized after launch, this is a BETA and Bungie has clearly stated that opening the moon mission for two hours only is there way to motivate a large number of people to log in concurrently. Also, Bungie is based in Washington State USA so all tests will be run at times they can actually monitor.

It's actually at 10 in the UK, because hurr bungle, how do we British Summer Time, but yeah, it sucks that these one-time events are happening at awkward times for some folks. Hopefully, things will be a bit more spread out when the full game launches.

It's going to be midnight for me, but I'll get it. Yesterday's 10 AM Iron Banner was good, it was 8 PM for me so it suited really well, hope they do future events like they did yesterday.
