Here's some reasons there should be a complete wipe of guardians and progress when the beta ends.
First, Everyone should start on equal terms.
I know people who skipped Beta but are going to play the full release alot. I want to play with them, cuz it's fun you know .
I'm pretty sure a select percentage of PvE-oriented people want to go all in to get world firsts on raids legendary difficulty.
I know it's just a few hours headstart, but that could make all the difference..
Also, who knows what's been changed in the full version from what we're playing right now? Beta builds are usually a few month old and pretty much could've been changed in the full version.
As for the arguements that includes "We should get something for playing the beta", we do. We'll get something no one else will get.
"But I spent so much time grinding for this and that, It sucks if I dont get to keep it" really? It's not like Bungie forced you to play with a gun to your head, And I bet you'd play just as much even if you knew you would'nt get to keep anything.
"But I've payed 100 bucks for this"
No, you didn't. You payed 100 bucks for the full game, the guaranteed beta-invite was just a pre-order bonus.

Above all: Bungie shouldn't risk letting legacy beta code run into the final game as it could cause further problems as they apply changes between now and the release

I've never really seen the grinding excuse as valid. Personally I think we should get something for being in the beta, which we will if we play on the 26th, but other than whatever that is I don't really care if we keep anything or not. The amount of grinding I've done is only a fraction of the grinding I'm going to do when the game actually comes out so it's not really a valid excuse to complain about the beta wipe. Especially since it's always been known that the wipe is a distinct possibility. -
tl;dr going to be a wipe regardless of how many people bitch about it so why bother trying to justify it. they're just going to whine anyway.

Edited by AdunSaveMe: 7/24/2014 10:51:06 AMI don't get the whole "they get a head start to new players" thing that arises whenever a beta wipe argument starts. Are we gonna wipe everyone's progress whenever a new player starts the game just to stay even?
-
1. That's not going to happen anyway. There is gear for those who pre order. Some people wont buy it on day one. Some people will get the game early. Some people will have more free time etc. The game will be unbalanced from the get-go. 2. Same points as above. And those sorts of people will have almost certainly played the beta. 3. Most valid point although I can't see much changing.

Stop being a coddling moron. If you skipped the beta then too ****Ing bad. bungie might have goaded the players to invest more time in the beta by saying to eurogamer that a carryover was not out of the question do even THEY know that's appealing to many. Stop trying to impose your brand of "fair" and "fun" on others
-
It will reset. They are telling us to play on the 26th for an item that will carry over. They wouldn't bother if everything was carrying g over anyway.

And I bet they will still play for many hours, even if the players from the beta were allowed to keep what they grinded for. Just admit there really isn't a reason for us to not keep what we grinded for. Lol the only reason is that you and like minded ppl wouldn't like it, because you think its unfair. But others like FoxDie already pointed out that the game will be unfair from the start, regardless of whether we are allowed to keep our gear or not.

It's gonna get reset, I don't want it to but it will because they're gonna add the achievements that you earn on ps/xbox

about the fair play for everyone... Wouldn't you say that games that allow a couple days of early access can ressemble a beta data carryover? I'm not saying I dont agree with you. but that argument is just not valid. I think they should wipe it because there's a lot of things that will change because they were meant to or in response to the beta. Better start clean than bother themselves with carrying everything over. Be honest, it took less than 3-4 hours to get to lvl 8, does one really cry if it gets wiped?
-
Agree 100% good post.
-
I would like the high level equipment we cant use but store in vault to save. Why? because it will take the same amount of time for us to level to use it that it takes for others to level and find it. But actually i honestly agree with someone else post. The beta should carry over just because so many people participated in it hat it would be a shame to delete it.
-
Bungie will do what they want to do if they wipe it? Fine I didn't want that but whatever, if they don't yay. I don't know why this is such a huge deal among gamers. Just because they get to HYPOTHETICALLY complete raids before other players who didn't do beta? That's sorta selfish that you'd want someone else's work to be erased just so they start leveled with you.
-
"Everybody should start on equal terms." You can get to level are in a matter of hours... Maybe beyond that, and if that's the case, others will get even better gear and not use the stuff we farmed so hard for, we have crap compared to what the full game has to offer in terms of loot. Plus, for the first few days, only people that preordered the game will be online and playing, for the most part. If you want to start over with a friend, there's probably a delete character option.
-
I don't much care as long as I can keep the blue items I found and put in my vault for after beta... I can't like use them or anything yet anyway
-
This thread gave me cancer.
-
It has already been said that they will NOT be carrying anything over to the full release of Destiny.
-
Agreed. Plus I'm betting there will be additional loot, abilities and items that we're going to want to unlock and proverbial seeds we'll want to sow that will lead to future unlocks and upgrades.

Thank you for this post. Another reason for this though is the Iron Banner. Idk if it will be a select event like this past weekend or a permanent part of the matchmaking in which case people would complain about the beta players being OP
-
Thank god someone agrees with me! It's only lvl 8 so deal with it you lazy, beer-bellied, couch potato, chumps. So buckle down and suck it up

Are you tired of Bungie's silence on this matter as the community tears itself apart. (and Maybe also me spamming these comments) Sign this petition so that Bungie will break it's silence. http://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/66719804

I don't understand why these posts keep popping up every day. Why do people care if others get to keep their gear? They will have what an 8 hour advantage? It's not like you are directly competing with these people unless you are pvping which you will still not be seeing due to the match making they say will match up folks by skill. If peoples level 8 greens are that much of an edge, these same people will have an "advantage" over you after the first day of official lauch.
