The Devil Walkers take way too long to kill!

The Fallen tanks [i]way[/i] too long to kill! I ran into one by myself on the free roam mission and spent almost half an hour whittling it down. Not even Scarabs were that tough! There are a few ways I can see to change this, like having a higher heavy weapon ammo capacity, or having the heavy weapons deal more damage, but the simplest solution seems to be just reduce the tank's health... by a lot. They'd still be offensive juggernauts but fighting them wouldn't be quite so tedious. Of course, I have only fought two, so maybe it's not really a huge problem... though other people have expressed similar thoughts... Any ideas?

  • During alpha they were even harder and I thought this same thing but you need to focus on the legs, try and focus on one. Don't waste your super. Them when you destroy a leg the tank goes into a stance that you cannot miss. When this happens you will see the cover come off his head and his brain is basically exposed. Use everything you got at that point to hurt him, supers, heavy weapons, grenade, throwing knife(hunter). Everything!! He cannot hurt you while he's down like this. You'll start seeing movement and hearing some metal clash when it's time to back away. Grab yourself a sniper rifle and scout rifle and go back to those legs while keeping some distance. Should take no more than 15 minutes to kill him on your own this way.

    • I kinda agree. Its a little monotonous fighting him. But because his health is so large, you really get that sense of accomplishment from defeating it. O don't know what a good solution would be.

      • I actually like the length of the battle. Ive played the devils lair at least 12 times with a few friends and it's really fun and a good challenge.

        No, it's a good, solid boss fight. I do however think we should get more of a reward for killing them.

      • I also think they're fine as they are nothing like a good, long, challenging boss fight, but I do agree that the tank should drop better loot and even better loot if your fighting him alone

      • Yeah, I was on a strike mission (?), and had to fight one with two other players. We spent a long, tedious time whittling down its health, until we all ended up dying at the same time and having to do it all over again. Or, rather, they did, since I returned to orbit and stopped playing entirely. Video games are supposed to be [i]fun[/i]. That was anything but.

      • Seriously, the Devil Walkers are a seriously boring fight. Everything is telegraphed, and the fight takes way too long. The mechanics need to be changed.

      • I fought it all by myself! And I only used a knife, cause guns are for pussys. I ended up going inside the devil walker and killing of the remaining fallen, then I blew the tank to pieces.... But I only got 25 xp and 50 glimmer. -_-

      • Half an hour? I need max 15 minutes. My record in devils lair are 17 min(for the complete strike). So it isn't the devil walkers fault that you need so long.

        • Once you learn how to fight it, it goes a lot faster. My groups usually kill one in 15 mins.

        • Each body part has its own health pool, if you focus your fire at say the legs you can disable it from moving around, take out enough of them and it stops turning altogether. Its other body parts function much the same way, if you kill individual parts it makes the fight a LOT easier than randomly firing at it as a whole.

        • Here's a tip to go along with shooting the armored legs that I dont see many people know. Shoot the launcher, the one that fires blue shit at you. It's on the top near the cannon barrel. That thing blows up if you shoot it enough, taking away one of his few attacks. The blue bullets, imo, are worst than the actual cannon.

          • they allready nerfed it enough only the one in Devils Lair is a bit stronger. I actually killed one all by myself yesterday even it was very close during the public event(barely 1-2 seconds left) Autorifle is best for his legs, than u can use a good shotgun to do a ton of damage to his revealed core. My Mainproblem was more getting enough ammo and stay alive while beeing the only target to all Fallen that are spawning with him (I hate those upgraded hoover droids they are the worst of them ^^) If his maincannon aim for you u can easely hit him from the side as he cannot attack u during the aiming.

          • I took out that devil walker last night in the devils lair. Shot the blue gun on top, it lost one way to attack. Then took the legs out and then the core. Took about 15 minutes.

            It def doesn't take long. My friends and I can get the whole devils lair done in 25 mins or less

          • Yes by yourself it takes a while it took me about 20 minutes to kill one solo but with a fire team it took only six minutes to kill the devil walker during the strike.which included killing the other fallen enemies.The Devil walkers do not need to be any weaker than they are the is just one of the cons of being a lone wolf ,if you run into a difficult part in the game you have three choice, first you can take the time to do it yourself and be proud knowing you just took down an enemy that is strong enough to last a half hour of being shoot at .second you simply go around ,public events are always optional.(If you run into one during a strike or raid that is all o. You the allow up to 6 players for a reason.) and lastly you can always group up with your fire-team and or other player that may be near by.There is absolutely no need to weaken the Devil walker .

            I agree. It's not challenging to take one down; there's no strategy involved whatsoever. You just sit back and unload on it forever. The Devil Walker is nothing more than a bullet sponge, designed to soak up your ammo and waste your time. It's not fun fighting one, just tedious.
