Why bungie should up the beta levelcap

I really think the level cap issue hasn't been handled that well by bungie. If they don't have plans to up the cap before the beta ends, then I think it's a real misstep on their part. I understand their concern about revealing too much before the actual release and people feeling like they've seen it all before, but I think that's misplaced. If the progression is really that limited for the full game, people are going to be disappointed anyway... I know they've said that there's plenty of ways to progress after the levelcap, so I think that's what we should be looking forward to for the retail game. I played the alpha, and I've already completed the new story missions and that took me to the level cap. Right now I'm trying to find reasons to play the beta, because it's not much different than what I've already seen. If they upped the level cap, or just gave us the ability to switch to the other subclasses, THAT would be a reason to continue to play and create characters for all classes again. That's what I and many others really want to see... I really want to see what the new hunter blade dancer looks like, and the extra titan subclass also looks really cool, but since it's locked, I haven't even bothered creating a titan character because bungie has been mum about whether any of this is going to carry over to the retail game...If this beta is at all about balancing classes and special abilities, they should have all subclasses unlocked so they can see how it all interacts for PvP and if anything is overpowered/underutilized....I would think that would be a big part of their beta if they care at all about the competitive multiplayer component. There are rumors that the level cap will be upped when xbox gets access, I really hope they are true...

 • Just wanted to say that the whole idea to the alpha and beta is so Bungie can get a server reading, see how it'll handle the flow of players, see if there are any major glitches such as the hunter cloak in PvP... Alphas and betas are more server tests and teasers than anything. I understand the frustration you feel, I was disappointed when I hit level 8 and had all this level 9 and 10 gear I couldn't do anything with... But in another sense I can't be angry at bungie for it, granted it is one hell of a tease letting me see my blade dancer but not being able to use it... I should be well able to now. As for Bungie being "mum" about whether or not the character data will carry... Well that's because they legitimately aren't sure yet... They have to see what that would entitle... How much server space, what kind of disruptions would it cause, and above all else, could or would it create potentially harmful glitches to those "beta testers". It's not so much they don't want to say anything as much as they just don't know.
