PvE: Warlock or Hunter?

I played mainly the hunter in the alpha and it was a lot of fun! But I heard that the warlock was the strongest for PvE in the alpha. Can anyone confirm this or is it simply depending on your playing style? EDIT:
Gunslinger58319 There is no best or worst. It all depends on how YOU play
This sums it up pretty well. :) Also notable:
Dizzly Hunters were the most agile, while having the slowest health recovery, and a decent special ability that is less effective in crowded situations. Warlocks were more fragile with good health recovery, decent agility, and a powerful special ability. Titans were the least fragile, with good health recovery, and the least agility of all classes with a good special ability.
So I will play all three in the beta and then choose the class that most fits my play style. Thanks for all the replies. :D

  • Warlocks grenade with added duration and 90% cd reduction on grenade timer really sucks down bosses hp. Also use it to wall off doors as AI won't walk through it.

Warlock reporting in o/ I really don't believe that there is a class difference regarding which one is stronger. A lot of my friends are playing as titans and they can just slay away without my help in PvE and PvP. The Nova Bomb is a nice super for ranged aoe clearings, but the start up time can get you killed if the opponent is fast enough. Fists of Havoc is almost immediate with (From what I hear) a very small window to either kill the player, or avoid the damage. I have jump glided straight in the air and was still killed by the ground pound. I believe it all falls down to play style and gear used regarding situations. - PvE I run Scout Rifles, Shotgun, Rocket launcher. General purpose that can be switched at anytime for ranges / situations PvP - I run Auto Rifles, Shotgun, Rocket launcher. Damage output assisted by the strong aim assist I have no information on the scout. I rarely encounter them, but when I do; Golden Guns tear me up if they already have it pulled out.

  • Every single strike mission I've played I've not been beaten in kills by any other class. Ps I'm a titan.

    • I believe that warlock is the best for both PvP and PvE! Its easier for a warlock to clean an area from mobs and in pvp, if you have raized the proper abilities then you are looking to a true war machine that can solo almost every place and be good in PvP

    • Warlocks are the best over all hunters are good at pvp but warlocks are best at pve and pvp if you know how to use em and which focuses you pick.

The warlock is stronget for clearing large groups of trash mobs but from plYing both i found the hunter was better at killing yellow hp majors and minibosses a couple shots with golden gun and they were either dead or very near to it my friendly nova bomb as a warlock was good at trash mobs but did less damage to more resiliant enemies so its all about your focus really clear the trash or focus the big guys

          • Walocksarw good for clearing groups of enemies and putting down traps (like their grenades). Titans are good for the same thing, but damage high level opponents well. Hunters are good for damaging high level opponents, but if you're in a group they're not much use. Their jump ability is more useful in PVP though.

          • The Hunter is not just "The Hunter" but he's also a actual hunter. Without him no body eats! NO...BODY. ಠ_ಠ

            • Ive heard mant great responses and they all have good points but I think it depends on a super. If you are upfront and like to take out a cluster of guys. The titan is for you. Wanna be accurate and be a silent killer. Hunter class. But if you like taking out thin spread out groups of enemies. Warlock is you character(if you have the three way nova bomb

              • I played with all classes in the alpha and the difference between classes is negligible. Hunters were the most agile, while having the slowest health recovery, and a decent special ability that is less effective in crowded situations. Warlocks were more fragile with good health recovery, decent agility, and a powerful special ability. Titans were the least fragile, with good health recovery, and the least agility of all classes with a good special ability. Again the differences were negligible, so when I use words like "least", "most", etc, they describe a very minimal advantage /disadvantage. Also, these are my opinions from playing each class... They may differ from yours. It's my personal opinion that these small differences will become more or less apparent as you level up and choose to sacrifice certain inherent class strengths for increased stats in an area a class is inherently weak at. Example: a Titans armor advantage sacrificed for an agility boost.

                • Warlock feels powerful in PvE because it has good AOE abilities and isn't quite as fragile as the Hunter. I'd argue that the Titan beats the warlock in both areas, however.

                • Its based on what you want. Also we only got to see one subclass per class and we didn't get to completely level it. But from what I know gunslinger hunter excels at doing high single target damage. They also have a lot of agility and a secondary boost in armor. As for the voidwalker warlock its a full offensive subclass dealing aoe damage. Getting a boost in Recovery and a secondary boost in speed. Check out Datto Does Destiny for his subclass videos and then choose.

                • I found the Warlock was great for PVP, especially for the game modes that was playable. Being able to throw that special into points is critical to clearing guys out.

Maybe warlock is awesome at low levels, but when you progressbin the game, he will start being weaker. Maybe hunter wasnt the best, but maybe when you progress you will get skills/gears that will make him even better than other classes. We cant realy tell which one is the best. Im sure they are all good at one point.
