A US pilot ordered pizzas for a plane full of passengers as they were stuck on the tarmac for two hours in Wyoming.
Gerhard Bradner ordered 50 pizzas after his plane was diverted to Cheyenne and they waited for thunder and lightning to clear in Denver.
Passengers said the entire cabin burst into applause after the pilot announced the delivery on the loudspeaker.
The Washington DC to Denver Frontier Airlines flight, with 160 people on board, finally flew on to Colorado.
Mr Bradner told Phil Williams on BBC Radio 5 live that half the pizzas were cheese and the other half pepperoni.
The captain paid for it out of his own pocket - but he has now been telephoned by the airline's president who has said that he will reimburse him for the cost.
Mr Bradner said he wasn't a hero - he just wanted to make sure that his passengers left the flight with "a smile on their face",
Ace pilot, you tell he enjoys his job and genuinely cares about the well being of his passengers.

Fifty pizzas? I can't even really imagine how much room that would take up anywhere. But good for him, and he sounds like an awesome person.

No drink?

This is the kind of thing that restores a bit of faith in humanity.

Only in Merica.
-
Not only did the pilot pay it out of his own pocket, but the President of the company offered to reimburse him. That should be a lesson for people who think that all businesses are inherently evil.
-
Bleeeeeeeee like eats pizza
-
Reminds me of that one time I got stuck in Denver overnight. I was outside in February at 3am waiting for the shuttle bus to come and bring me to the hotel. I then got into a conversation with a pilot standing next to me, and when my shuttle didn't show after 15 minutes he offered me a ride in the pilot private shuttle. Pretty nice person, if you ask me.
-
That pilot just won his company a whole lot of goodwill.
-
Great, now I want pizza.

How nice c:
-
Not only is he a hero, but he needs to make that a national law that kicks in whenever a flight gets delayed by longer than 45 minutes. At least then, Delta wouldn't suck so bad.
-
"Mr Bradner said he wasn't a hero",
Did someone call him a hero? Or is he that bigheaded? He's cool and everything, but a hero? What the hell
-
Too bad it wasn't cheese pizza.
-
What an American hero

Beats airline food anyday.
