Microsoft did not rush Halo 2

That's right. Bungie did it to themselves. They screwed around in early development, wasted time on an engine that could never run on the original Xbox and insane level designs that could never work in an FPS game, and paid the price later when they had to scrap all of that work and actually make the game in time to meet their deadline. Accept it, nerds.
