Irony of Godzilla
Goji was originally a response to the nuclear bombing of Japan, and had a not-so-subtle anti-American theme to it. Now with the latest reboot, we see Godzilla coming to save America, even being called the "savior of the city" of San Francisco. So he went from the terror of Japan (in the Hesei series) to the hero of America.

[spoiler]But seriously it was an awesome film and I'm sure full of meaningful symbolism and stuff.[/spoiler]

Godzilla was no hero,he was a grumpy old man who went and murdered a young couple for being too loud. He didn't care for America,he just had to show the other kaiju who is boss.
