Halo3Customs.com Public Beta
[i]First of all I’d like to give a huge thanks to Halo3Customs co-founder BrilliantWinter – without you this simply wouldn’t have been possible and I’m really looking forward to us working together in the future.[/i]
Today it is with great excitement that I reveal Halo3Customs.com to the community and announce that it has just gone into its beta testing phase! Here are a few of the features Halo3Customs.com offers you:
* The ability to search for people who are online right now in Halo 3 playing custom games
* The ability to filter your search results by gametype, skill range, and location (yes that’s right, you can now find other custom gamers local to you – no more lag!)
* Bungie.net and Xbox.com stats right there on the page so you can see players rank and rep at a glance
* Links to message players via xbox.com and add them to your friends list direct from our site
This is probably a good time to remind you all that Halo3Customs has only just gone into its beta testing phase and so it is currently in its most basic form – we have got lots of really exciting features planned for the near future but until we hit v1.0 there will probably be lots of bugs so please bear with us and give us some time to work out the kinks.
So, how does Halo3Customs work? When a user signs up their gamertag is added to our database. We then regularly check their stats on xbox.com and bungie.net to see exactly what they’re playing and update the information in our database. Then when a user searches for people playing Capture the Flag in the 30-40 level range who live in the United Kingdom a check is made against our database and a random selection of users is displayed (the list is random to prevent users getting spammed with 20 friend requests in the space of a minute). Simply click on one of the displayed results to be presented with a variety of stats and links to the player’s Bungie.net and Xbox.com profiles, as well as links to send the player a message via Xbox.com and to add them to your friends list. We limit our database to only registered users so that people who do not wish to be part of our community don’t get spammed with friend requests and also to limit your results to people that, like you, enjoy playing customs...a lot :).

Hey, This is BrilliantWinter (incase you couldnt tell by my username :P) Just wanted to tell everyone that we just fixed a bug that would not let some users send their applications in, so if you had issues before, try now! and we have had 14 beta candidates so far so there is still plenty of room to try out (what I think may be) the next big h3 thing! Yeah, already we have 25 potential beta testers. Not sure how many we will cap it at but I am going to be accepting those users right now, so keep em coming!!

Sweet, this would be the perfect way to have people help test my new map. Though I wouldn't be surprised if I don't get validated, since I haven't played many custom games.

thanks, thanks, and thanks again guys, and dont worry about how many customs you have played, I am setting up the beta registrations now (so once you have your invite, you can actually join) and will most likely be accepting everyone who shows potential (aka, if you go on our chatroom, soon to be blog/forum, test things out, report bugs, and just stay active. Customs are not totally critical right now) and if you think this should be stickied, please, please send a message to some of the mods, would be great to get this out there more! //Edit Just a note, at the time of this posting we have had 37 people apply, looks like there is a large interest so far, once this gets stickied (not if) it will be going so fast for testing and dev! thanks everyone for taking part! hey, thanks again guys, if you sign up I will be going through and am more likely to approve people if they are showing that they are active as well so post it up here, on our blog (once it is released) and on our live chat (link at the bottom of the site) just no spamming please. and we are going to be taking the site offline on occasion to update certain things, for instance, (w00t, the bug listed here is fixed, just the major issue of a stupid developer, aka ME! but really, no problems, and it was tiny anyways) [Edited on 12.16.2007 6:44 PM PST]

thanks, so we are still adding a few new things, one of which is a blog that is now up, and we are also attempting to get a good live chat (think msn+forum, updates when there is a message and junk) up also. in addition, Savj14 (maker of another halo3 custom game finder) may be joining our team, at which point we will in one way or another, merge sites so there are even more features!

Hmm yeah, from what I know. There aren't any other sites I know of using the same methods to find games. Using the data from live and Bungie seems the best, accurate and most up-to-date.

I would love to get involved. I am an older guy and nobody I know plays Halo, so it would be cool to find some other people to play customs with. By the way, will there be a feature to search by age (I'm 33).

[/quote] we could definitely consider that as a search parameter for future releases, infact, I think it would be pretty sweet, filter out all of the prepubescent boys :D jkjk little ones, we would most def still wanna pwn you :P to log in you need to be activated first, what you must do is this: Go to the main website and click "Join our list of wannabe testers" Then wait for a message in your xbox live inbox take the code we send you and input it into the beta code box after clicking "Validate Your Account" you will then be able to log in! This looks interesting. I've always been wanting to play custom games...but every time I join a game it's either FFA Slayer or Zombies...:\ So yeah, I went ahead and signed up for the Beta thingamabob, all the best guys, hope yo do good. :)

Im in, ive got 1000s of custom games played and im 5th in the world for most played halo 3 i also am a very good forger and me and my friends make some kick ass maps so sign me up this is perfect. [Edited on 12.19.2007 2:17 PM PST]
