Is Destiny going to play the same on Xbox One and PS4?

Looking at the E3 gameplay and sometimes the ViDocs/Other videos Bungie has posted, it seems that Destiny is already playing on the PS4. Sometimes you can even see the DS4 sitting there subtly in some of their videos. I know, what else is new, right? Hear me out. Recently there's been news floating around that Tomb Raider (Definitive Edition) will be playing on 1080p 60 frames per second on PS4, and 1080p 30 frames per second on Xbox One. Obviously Bungie is not them. While I don't mind waiting months and months for Destiny to release, I hope dearly to not be let down by finding out somehow Destiny plays less better on Xbox One. I know it's up to developers, I just hope Bungie is that one developer studio that sets the bar for equal play on not only PS4/Xbox One but also 360 and PS3. And yes I plan to get the Xbox One over the PS4, sue me. I'm not a Microsoft 'shill' I just really want to play the next Halo and it's also where my life long friends are at. P.S. (I can deal with PS4 getting exclusive content, it's a nice welcome to those players)

  • 1080p and a very stable locked 30fps on PS4 and 1080p, not quite so stable locked 30fps on XB1 would be my guess.

So you want devs to Nurf the PS4 version "IF" it plays better on the PS4? Sad thing is, they probably will . But imo , it will be 30 FPS on both systems anyway. The PS4 is a little more powerful ,this is true, but I doubt neither could handle a game like Destiny at 1080p with 60 FPS. So don't worry . It will be the same. When the PC version comes though I hope it makes my R9290X Crumble .The thought of Playing Destiny with High Texture Resolutions , loads of AA and AF with a nice stable High FPS is Beautiful . It will happen one day . Better Graphics , More Speed = More Immersion and longer play sessions for me.

Halo and friends are excellent reasons. Its also a pretty good machine to boot. No it doesn't seem as powerful as the PS4 but who cares. I'm sure Destiny will look and play great on all the consoles.

    • I'm guessing it is going to be on 1080 on the XBO and the PS4 (PS4 60 frames, XBO 30) and PS3 XB360 probably 720 ( unsure of frame rate.)

    • PS4 will run faster smoother and have a little bit better graphics. More detail. But I honk XBOX1 will have better lighting.

    • The truth is that the Xbox One hasn't been able to reach the heights of the PS4 graphics-wise. PS4 can run at 60 frames per second at 1080p while the Xbox One can either do sub 30 fps at 1080p or 60 fps at 720p. I believe Bungie has said they've decided to run at 30 fps so this may not be a problem, but I don't know.

    • Probably 1080p at 60fps for PS4, and 720p 30-48fps on Xbone. Other than that shouldn't be too diff. PS4 has more power under the hood which may give it the edge. Xbone is only capable of 720.

      • Depends on how advanced the game is and how much its pushing the consoles. Either the systems will be working very hard to get 30fps and in this case the PS4 will likely hold 30fps much more often with Xbox one droping in the 20s during hectic battles probably adding screen tearing. It could also suffer from a lower resolution or missing effects. Or the Game won't push the systems very hard and you'll have both locked at 30fps with maybe a few extra settings on PS4. In this case the PS4 would have a much higher average framerate but because the game is locked at 30fps you never get to see it's real performance level. This would probably happen if they want to lock at 30fps or 60fps and they realize the PS4 can't quite make 60fps so they lock it at the lower one. We could see a combination of both where the Xbox one problems are not as bad as in the first case and the PS4 is also capped at 30 with power to spare. Giving a kinda halfway between the 2 options.

I don't think there will be any noticeable differences, and Destiny will play wonderfully on both consoles. But, I do think there is a good chance that the XBO version will run at a slightly lower resolution. Articles like this one, while they are far from hard evidence, also hint at this possibility. Other developers seem to be having trouble getting the XBO to run their games natively at 1080p, and I wouldn't be surprised if Bungie has similar issues.

        • The thing I am curious about is how ps4 and ps3 are supposed to play together but on two totally different systems... I hope it does mean that the ps4 and xbox1 one versions will be dubed down bc of inner council play. What do yall think?

        • I think overall both the PS4 and XBOX One versions will look the same but there might be some different control schemes. Ex kinect integration on XBOX One and touch pad features on PS4.

        • While I think it likely there may be some minor graphical difference between the X-Box One version and PS4 version; you can rest assured that they will make it run as good as they possibly can on your X-box.

            • It will be the exact same...the only difference is you may miss out on some exclusive content for a short period of time.
