So it looks like Sony was trying to hide the fact that they're going to be monitoring your text and voice chat while simultaneously bashing MS for having the ability to do the same thing. I pretty much saw this coming as lying about their products and having the reality be a complete 180 has been standard Sony practice for the past 8 years (unfortunately), but I think it will be interesting to see what some of you have to say on the matter.
There's a clause in it that states that they don't have the ability to simultaneously monitor every user at once, but seeing as how many of you ignore a very similar clause that MS has it would only be hypocritical of you if you didn't ignore Sonys as well.
remember how sony installed rootkits on PCs when users tried to play a Sony BMG music CD? how the "fix" only hardened the rootkit? how they got slapped by the justice department? remember how they own securom type DRM? this is par for the course for Phony

I don't care either way.

Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the modern digital age, where nothing you do online is private; and it's all because we didn't start giving a damn about online privacy until it was too late. As of now, you'd be a fool to think that what you do online isn't monitored in some way. Fun fact: when it was revealed the NSA was conducting surveillance on people, protests erupted. In Germany.
-
Also this:
Potentially more troubling for the everyday user is Section 7, which deals with resale: "You must not resell either Disc-based Software or Software Downloads, unless expressly authorized by us and, if the publisher is another company, additionally by the publisher." The message is clear: Lending PS4 games may be as easy as handing them over to a friend, but reselling them may require a few extra hoops. Sony and individual publishers may not put any restrictions on reselling games, but they have every right to.
Over 24 hours and this thread is still going? I underestimated the mad this would generate.
-
BEGINNING TRANSMISSION: (Low melodious hum.) I already monitor all of you. ENDING TRANSMISSION;

The PS4 also has a day one patch to get rid of DRM because the console originally included it. This is also why Watch Dogs was delayed. The online aspect was built for DRM on both systems then both systems reversed it.
-
This as been done since Xbox 360 and PS3 and people are now trying to make this thing into news?! Ahaha. Here's the real reasons people got mad with Microsoft: #1 - Microsoft wanted to end 2nd hand games with DRM on the console. #2 - Xbox One required online autentications every 24 hours or else you couldn't play your games. #3 - Mandatory kinect, required to be connect all the time. Guess what?! Sony doesn't have any of that shit and never has. Sure MS changed that, doesn't change the fact that they tried to screw us.

Edited by Hipi07: 11/12/2013 4:33:23 PMSo, what do the PS butt buddies have to say now? You -blam!-ers going to keep bashing MS and XB1? They were at least up front about their policies from the start, unlike Sony, which you dumbasses have been sucking off thinking they were next coming of jesus. Hope you guys mature some day.

Edited by II SHABUTIE II: 11/12/2013 1:48:41 AMIt's insane how many things PS fanboys made fun of Xbox for and are now parts of the PS4. "XBOX SPIES ON YOU! I'll never let my gaming system spy on me!" *It's announced that Sony is doing the same thing. * "It isn't as bad as xbox!" "MICROSOFT CHARGES FOR LIVE! I would never pay to play online!" *Sony charges for most games online functionality* "You get more with PS+" "Xbox requires a day one update, that's bs" *Sony announces a day one update* "Every system does this nowadays, it's not a big deal" I'm sorry but Sony fanboys are in denial.

Edited by SexyPiranha: 11/12/2013 3:38:39 PMHad it been revealed in reverse order the X Box fan boys would be acting the same way. #notafanofsony

Edited by MiniSerpent0421: 11/12/2013 2:52:21 PM
The referenced Section 13.1 of the PS4's Software Usage Terms specifically relates to "grief reporting mechanisms" and "in-game reporting tools," indicating that Sony's monitoring policies may be limited to instances of user-reported player abuse. Sony further notes that "we can't monitor all PSN activity and we make no commitment to do so."
Should've read the whole thing...

Sony loves us, Im sure they just want to protect us. But M$ just wants my information to sell it to the government. #Greatness Awaits
/sarcasm
-
Inb4 millions of "Yoshida has a small wiener" texts on PSN.
-
PC master race... ...too soon?
-
I am so glad I switched to PC gaming. This next gen is shaping up to be a disaster already.
-
To the people that are saying "it's not the government, I don't care.": Google and Yahoo were compelled by law to hand over email exchanges en masse to the NSA and politely informed us when Snowden had already disseminated the files; there's nothing that prevents Microsoft and Sony for doing the same. Granted, it would be harder for the American government to convince Sony to hand over their text and voice records, but hardly impossible.
-
Virtually everything you do on the internet is being monitored constantly(although it would be extreme to say absolutely everything).
-
Damn Nintendo, I'm sorry for turning my back on you. You were the only one I could trust...
-
As long as it isn't the Government doing it I don't care. I'm getting a XB1 btw.
-
Everyone gets mad implying that they discuss things that would otherwise be devastating if they fell upon the ears of Sony.
-
Both companies do. Surprise surprise.
-
I'll say the same thing that I did about the Xbone being used to spy on people. You are more than welcome to listen in on all the intellectual and polite discussions that occur on Xbox Live and PSN. At no point does it ever sound like a million screaming retards howling obscenities at each other. Seriously I don't know why either company are wasting their time on this, it's not like Al Qaeda plot their next attack whilst playing Search and Destroy...

Edited by nao: 11/11/2013 11:00:13 PMOn the one hand I can kinda understand it. Nintendo just caught a bunch of pedo's using swapnote to talk to kids. On the other hand its still a creepy and unsettling invasion of privacy. Something that's pretty much dead as far as the internet goes. Can't say this has my approval, but unfortunately all parties are guilty of it.
