Will 360 owners be left out due to Microsofts terms/ membership plan? How would it work having even a silver member bong able to play online, independent servers?
-
This is bullshit. Why do we now have to pay more money just to play an online game we alreadt bought? Sony why did u join MS' reign of terror?! I trusted you.
-
You cant, since Gold is required to play -any- game online if you own a Xbox. And yes, as someone stated below it is still amazingly funny how many PS players are going to go bananas when they find out they do need to pay to play online with the new PS plus plans for Playstation.
-
Yeah you will need Gold Account. Shop around they go on sale often for like $30-$35. On a side note I find it amazing how many PS4 buyers do not know they are going to need a Playstation Plus membership to play online.
-
when I got Halo 3 and was introduced to 'xbox live' I was like 'why the hell do I have to pay MORE I jjust bought the game?" I still think that...I pay BUNGIE, I play game FK M$ and xbox live and their leechery.

Stop being poor

A LIVE Gold/PS+ account will be required to play Destiny. Why is this so difficult for people to understand? The entire, I repeat: The Entire Game Industry is moving to ONLINE ONLY!!! Within the next decade, most single player games that do not in some way connect to the internet, will be obsolete and "nostalgic". It's not a ploy to screw over/pariah poorer Gamers or people in remote wilderness habitats. This is simply the "natural" evolution of this industry. Not liking where the industry is going is OK, everyone has their opinions. But this is where the Gaming industry is headed, and we've seen these signs coming for a decade. Either get on-board, or get left behind. That's just how it is.

Most likely a gold membership will be required. If you search online you should be able to find a 12 month membership for $40 - $50. I don't know about PS3 but PS4 will require a + account.

What is a silver member
-
The Elder Scrolls Online recently announced that it is working with Microsoft to make the game available to Xbox Live Silver members, maybe Bungie will follow the same path.
-
In all likelihood, you will need a Gold account to play Destiny. However, since Destiny is required to be online, but not necessarily required to participate in Matchmaking, you could potentially be able to play the game on a Silver account. Your game would just not intersect with anyone else's game. It would effectively turn Destiny into an always online single player game.
-
I never thought about this before, but I would venture to guess that you might need gold for this game. I don't necessarily like that fact, but I don't see it working out any other way.
-
You probably have to have Gold in order to play it due to it being a multiplayer only game.
