The Xbox Support Twitter account replied to a query earlier today concerning bans on Xbox Live with the new console, as the Xbox One has to consistently connect to the sever. The answer:
"If your account is banned, you also forfeit the licenses to any games that have licenses tied to it as listed in the ToU."

The writer of the article says it well:
We can’t see any other way of interpreting that. If you get banned from Xbox Live for any reason, all of the games that use that account are locked. You can’t play them. Since the console has to connect to the server, and your Live account, getting that account locked out also denies access to the games tied to it. While this might be a good deterrent for the hatred-spewing youngsters on Live, it also bodes poorly for people whose accounts are accidentally or wrongly banned. Even with the former scenario, isn’t kicking you from all of your games a bit excessive? I’ll come out and say it now: this is ridiculous. I don’t know what Microsoft is thinking.
Pretty ludicrous, but I wouldn't trust the twitter account for official news. They've been pretty sporadic on answering questions, and are only low level employees who don't have all of the information.

Edited by Hideaki Anno: 6/15/2013 8:19:45 AMBanned from online multiplayer for hacking in that game = fine Losing all the games you bought by being essentially locked out of them = bullshit

Edited by BlueElementZ: 6/15/2013 7:47:38 AMI don't think people's use of the word ban is the same as Microsoft's. It seems as though the ban they are talking about is the more... permanent, or serious type of ban. Maybe more of a deterrent to those who modify hardware or those who tamper with the more - real - features. Things like mute bans, and multiplayer bans are problems for the developer's matchmaking team (the ones with the ban hammer) anyway.
-
I don't see the problem as you agreed to the Live ToU and CoC.
-
That would suck go spend $500 plus $60 a game then they take it all if you get banned.
-
Hmm, you know I've been leaning towards the Xbox One for a while now, but I might rethink things now...
-
I don't see the issue here since if you break the ToS/CoC then you really shouldn't be able to play with others. Since in order to get banned from live it takes a lot of effort for the most part.
-
Wow I would be afraid of even being mean to someone. That's ridiculous though, "You better play nice or we take your games away, no matter if you paid for them or not!" Another reason why owning games>licensing them.
-
deterrent for the hatred-spewing youngsters
I support this.
-
Yet another reason why I Hate most always online devices, you lose your online stuff all the stuff you pay for is now gone, -blam!- microsoft, -blam!- their "you don't own the games you buy" policy, and -blam!- the xbox one
-
That's... Really harsh. Restricting multiplayer and stuff is reasonable.. But to deny gamers their own games that they payed for, wow.
-
Hmm I never thought of what would happen if someone got banned. And may I be the first to say that it is complete and utter bullshit, they shouldnt be able to play multiplayer, but forfeiting all the games they bought thats down right stupid as hell.
