The idea with tags, as I understand it, is to lump topics into smaller, more specific buckets. One of the problems with this, however, is fragmentation... Where many similar, but distinctly different, tags are used to categorize content of a similar nature. We saw this in the early phase of the beta with the use of #Flood and #TheFlood (which I believe are still being used).
Here is my suggestion.... When tagging a topic, the list of suggested tas should be ordered by popularity. That way, rather than try and guess what the right tag to use is, I can simply see what others are using.
For example: When creating this topic, I wanted to use the tag #BungieNext (which I believe to be the correct one). However, I had to scroll half-way through a very long list of tags to find it.
There is already a page that lists the most popular tags. I'd just like to find some way to make that list availible to people as they create topics.
What do you think?

This seems like a good idea. Also, the ability to view multiple hashtags simultaneously (without having to manually type them into the url) would be great. For example, if you are viewing #TheFlood in the related tags area it could show #Flood and #offtopic with buttons to add them to the search.
