What have you done for the community?

(Ninjas and employees, this question isn't really about you. :P) So you love Bungie, right? You love the games, you love the people, you queued up at midnight for your copy of Halo 3 and then wrote several angry threads about Reach when it wasn't exactly the same game with better guns. You've been here for years, squealed like a girl that one time an employee posted in your thread, thought about starting a private group that you thought could be "like the Flood but more chill and relaxed and we can cuss and stuff". You've seen big names come and go, and voted in at least one popularity thread per month, as is mandated under the ToS as a condition of your membership. But what have you actually done for this community? The Septagon is a beautiful perfect circle of ass-kissing and repeat threads, and I realise that's why some people love it. People post with authority despite the fact that they don't have any, and people flock to their posts for no reason other than to keep the machine going. But what have any of you actually done? How have you made the community better? How do you think your contributions, either on an individual scale or as part of something bigger, have left their mark on this site, no matter how big or small? This isn't a criticism, or a demand for credentials. I just want to know how you see yourselves and your place here. I want to know whether or not you think your voice matters, and why. More than anything, I want to get a sense of what you think it takes to make a difference, and how far you'd be willing to go to do it.

 • I don't know exactly what to say. I've contributed to the positive and negative experiences of many members over my time here. As well, I've done give aways and contests and assortments of playdates through chapters and other sub-communities found on this website. While I haven't posted any MegaThreads (see cortana 5s' Destiny Thread), I've just done a lot of actual posting, wether it be participating in random conversations, helping members find resources for things, answering the questions i can answer, attempting to help people with mailsack challenges, blah blah blah blah blah. All in all, What have I really done? I've been myself, I've grown, I've watched the community grow, and i've attempted to give back the awesomeness that i've been honored to receive over the past near 8 years. I've met other members at events (ODST Truck Tour, PAX), even just had random dinners (SoCal meet ups with Ibmeubu, NTP, Madman redux, PsychoTex). Hell, I've even been on the receiving end of the love/support this community has to offer when my daughter was born. As for making a "difference", I don't exactly know how to interpret that. As i said above, i've contributed to members experiences positively and negatively. I'm not any more special than someone who joined the website two days ago, and i'm in love with that fact. We all have voices, and they all come together as a full community rather than a few loud voices trying to overshadow the rest (Or at least that's all i care to think, because i try to ignore the people who speak over others). I would like to take this opportunity to thank you, OP. It was nice to think about all of these things. But...
Posted by: jaythenerdkid The Septagon is a beautiful perfect circle of ass-kissing and repeat threads,
This is where you lost me. I was trying to read your thread in a positive lighthearted manner, but sometimes sarcasm doesn't communicate well via text. The entire OP is laced with this awkwardly rude crap that really sounds like a "floodian" trying to get quick insults in on the septagon. Why can't we all just get along? :P I'll just hammer it into my brain that you were joking.
