Admiral Cole in Halo 5/6

Admiral Cole supposed died at the Battle of Psi Serpentis. But, there was a chance that he escaped via a last-second slipspace jump. How would you feel if he showed up in Halo 5 or 6? I think, if it worked well with the story, it'd be a fantastic nod to the classic Halo lore, and really help tie in the old with the new. Only if they made it work, though. Anything half-assed would just be a disappointment.

  • If Cole returned, he'd be in danger of execution for desertion in a time of war. It was a selfish thing he did, even if completely understandable. But they wouldn't have had SURGEON hypothesise him as still alive if he wasn't going to play a part in the universe at some point in the future. He'll be living on a farm somewhere, enjoying retirement with his wife on a distant outer colony world. I don't think he'd willingly leave that unless something disastrous happened. I'd love there to be a twist with his colony rebelling in the new insurrection, and UNSC retaliation destroying his home and family. He'd take up the role of Admiral again, but for the insurrectionist revolution rather than for the UNSC. And honestly, at some point in the future of the universe I can see the insurrectionists being portrayed as the good guys. Not the terrorists, but ones who just want an end to the UNSC/UEG's tight grip. Especially with ONI becoming ever more scrupulous, and the UNSC adopting Forerunner technology which will make them more formidable than ever and thus, more able to domineer the galaxy. It's time for a revolution.
