Wasteland [My sort of Review]

Firstly, what is Wasteland? Wasteland is a mod for Arma II that you already have downloaded. Provided that you have the base game and OP Arrowhead. It is an open world total war style game where two teams and an Independent team fight over resources, build bases, assault enemy bases, and complete the random objectives that are given to each player. The objectives can be things like: secure an immobilized APC and claim it for your own, secure a weapons cash and transport it back to base, etc. Everybody in the game can see these objectives, so do not expect to be alone when heading towards one of them. There was a moment where five people and myself were approaching a downed AC-130. Right as we parked out vehicles next to the crash site, a storm of gunfire erupted all around us and killed us all. Apparently some Independents had teamed together instead of killing eachother. Things like this happen on a consistent basis in Wasteland. It is warfare on a MASSIVE scale unlike anything that you have seen before. Even grander than Planetside 2... Save for the thousands of players. The game is like a take on DayZ, but with the PVP only. There are no Zombies, morality, or bandits to deal with. This is like when EVERYBODY has become a bandit and you are fighting to keep your buddies on top of it all. It feels like a giant tug of war to snatch and grab objectives and maintain control your base and its surroundings. You build a base by acquiring structures that are scattered throughout all of Chernarus and the other maps. You load them inside your vehicle and drive them back to your Bases destination. You will set up things like: Sniper towers, bunkers, walls, weapons storage, vehicle storage, and you can even place turrets for those troublesome areas. There are fantastically blood pumping moments when the enemy sets up their coordinated attack on your base, and you stand guard in your tower--waiting for them to show their faces. Some people get clever and provide distractions with explosions while another team attacks from the back. If your base has a Helicopter to scout out the area, then you have a HUGE advantage. However, if they have found a few tanks. Then you better have the rockets to kill them with... Wasteland is a surprisingly well done Mod that does not have too many glitches and bugs to break it. The only problems are the ones that already exist in Arma II. You know, the hacking and the many other glitches that the game suffers from. If you want something to drain those hours away and have loads of fun doing so. Then play Wasteland! All you have to do is set your filter to it, and you are done. FINAL VERDICT: Wasteland gets a B-.
