Halo novel "The Flood"
So with Halo 4 fast approaching ive been trying to read all the halo novels before release. I should of started with Contact Harvest but im going in the order of release. I already finished Fall of Reach and im almost done with First Strike. I skipped The FLood because I kept hearing it was just Halo CE in book form. Does it add anything to the game or have any other information I would need to be worth reading?
And lastly, what books spoil Halo 4's story because I want to go into it knowing almost nothing.

Don't read cryptum or anything else that deals with the forerunners. Also be careful on here, some jerk might just post a spoiler in this thread to ruin your day, also stay away from most gaming forums and sites that post leaks. :)

Yeah Halo Waypoint and Reddit are crawling with spoilers, ive yet to see one. So Ghost of Onyx, Contact Harvest, and the Coal Protocol are good to read though?

The Flood goes into much more detail about what happens to Keyes as well as the other Marines on the ring. I think it's actually a really interesting expansion of the first game's events. Especially the description of Keyes' battle with the Gravemind. Although, that was adapted into Halo CEA as a terminal, so hey. You can skip it if you want to. Also, I've been listening to the Forerunner Saga in audiobook form in preparation for Halo 4. Somehow I feel like it'll be better going into it with understanding of what's going on in the game.

I really enjoyed The Flood, so I say it's worth a read, but I tend to be in the minority with that opinion.

It adds a few more characters and background and I liked it. I went release order too and I think that's the way to go. Before you go into the Forerunner Saga or Kilo-Five, read Halo Evolutions. Lots of good stories and a taste of many different writers.

Just because some fans were upset that the Forerunners weren't the angels they thought they were doesn't make the books terrible.

'The Flood' is a great book. Just skip the parts about the master chief. It follows several other awesome characters who have nothing to do with the MC. 'The Flood' is the first book to have chapters about ODST. Find out about the crew of 'The Pillar of Autumn. Follow UNSC ground troops as they explore Halo while waring with the covies. Indeed, the parts about the chief were very boring. The other parts were very interesting though. Its worthwhile to read The Flood. The Flood also contains one of my favorite scenes and characters from the books!

The Flood expands on the story of Halo: CE and the crew of the Autumn, but doesn't do much beyond that. And there's a couple of plot holes and discrepancies with most of John's scenes anyway, even more incentive to simply skim over them so we can go back to the intense drama between the Autumn's crew.

That's like saying watching [i]Empire[/i] will spoil [i]Return of the Jedi.[/i] The Forerunners books act as a prelude and introduce some of the things we'll see in the games.

Could the OP clarify?
