...whatever it may be. This week, Tom Slattery is breaking in.

Reading...
-
First! Japanese? Edit: Ninja'd. :c Stupid cheap internet connection of college. Edit 2: I'm about 1/4th of the way reading it. I think my school's internet connection sucks because I have to keep refreshing it just to get a few more pixels on just to read. I'm wondering, do you need to have a degree in your "language" just to work at Bungie? [Edited on 10.16.2012 12:33 PM PDT]

Dang, he's got my level of cool beat. Then again, I suppose my level of cool isn't very high.
-
Good interview.
-
Shooting "baddies" in the face confirmed for 'Destiny'! Seriously, that was a good read. Sounds like a big job.
-
He doesn't speak Portuguese so you lied again DeeJ. You should get banned. *Goes to request a ban on a mythic member thread.* And yes you are a mythic member.
-
Yorkshire?
-
Hmm. I speak English and only English. Nice read again David.
-
Awesome read.
-
Very nice!
-
Can he translate into dead languages? I want a copy of the manual for the next game in ancient Sumarian.
-
He has a thing with shooting things in the face... Brilliant read!
Posted by: Tom Slattery I usually have some coffee at home, get to the studio a little after 8:00, grab some more coffee, work until lunch, eat, grab a little more coffee, and work some more. Sometimes, if I'm feeling a bit drained, I'll get a late-afternoon coffee to mix things up. You don't want your routine to get too predictable, right?
Did somebody say coffee? Great interview. It's interesting how the employees rank Experience, Work Ethic, and Talent differently.

Awesome thanks DeeJ!! and nice to meet you Mr. Slattery
-
Chladný!

All JET, so many JP majors set their goals on being accepted. It's not a bad thing, it's a great program. But I hear about it all the time. I've always thought about the localization in video games. I still remember my friend purchasing a Spanish copy of Halo 3 and hearing "¡Jefe Maestro!" during campaign. We nearly died.
-
Hooray for spanish profanity!
-
Interesting he chose Japanese as a second language, rather than Mandarin, or another one more prominent in big business nowadays. Sounds like he's been around, which is awesome.
-
Interesting. I always assumed localization was a job that the Publisher does, but I guess having an expert on hand while you make the game makes sense as well.
-
I demand that the next Bungie game be translated into Homeric Greek. Cheers.
-
Very cool. And as a person with a foreign language class currently, you have my respect if you can understand what someone is saying in that language very easily. Anyone who talks more than a word every two seconds sounds like an auctioneer :/
-
Not one word about hating foreign host or lag? He most definitely does NOT speak my language!
-
Posted by: Lobster Fish 2 Hooray for spanish profanity!
Wait, he speaks physics? I fully expect him to answer my question in the mail sack then.
-
Nowhere in that article did Tom smile and offer me a vegemite sandwich. He does not speak-a my langauge.
-
It looks like Tom has a bunch to talk about! Great reading.
