Halo Mac cutscene issue
Hi, I'm running the universal binary 2.0.4 and cutscenes at the start of missions are not displaying. I can hear the audio, but the screen is black. The 'Flawless Cowboy' mission title shows up at the start of 'Halo', but the cutscene plays audio only. Cutscenes during and at the end of missions seem to work okay.
Just wondering if anyone has come across this issue, and/or a fix for it.

Thanks, windowed vs fullscreen doesn't affect it, but I'll see if I can change the parameters at all. I appreciate the thought!

OK. Can you run it in safemode? I'm not sure how the universal binary works. Can you change runtime parameters? On PC you add -safemode to the executable but I just don't know how to do it on Mac. Try running it in windowed mode, or if you already are try fullscreen, and see if anything changes. I wish I could be more help.

Thanks for the responses, all. Wilis_kid: I did try reinstalling, and no change. I've got the latest updater from macgamestore.com, and my Mac's up to date (I'm running Snow Leopard - not sure what Lion/Mountain Lion compatibility is like). trekkie: I'll have a look, but I thought the cutscenes were rendered in realtime? All the studio vids at start up play fine, yeah. [Edited on 10.10.2012 2:51 AM PDT]

Everybody be nice. Something similar sometimes happens on PC. A codec issue with outdated video drivers I think. What are the cutscenes stored as? My computer is down for the moment so I can't check. Make sure everything is up to date like he said and try again. Also, do you get the Bungie and Gearbox videos at startup? [Edited on 10.10.2012 12:47 AM PDT]

I would test it out for you since i also have a Mac to go with a PC and like trying to help but i refuse to spend a stupid amount of cash for a video game, especially when I already have it for PC. Hopefully you get it sorted soon though. And now for the obvious stuff, have you tried reinstalling? Patching? Making sure Mac is up to date etc? It's odd that it's just the beginning cutscenes but not the rest of them, i've never heard of that before. -
Hm... I haven't played it on my Mac in a long time, but I don't ever recall ever having that issue.

May I ask, what drugs are you taking that make you think playing video games on a Mac is a good idea?
