Campaign Question The Big Crab
how do i destroy the big crab in the fourth mission?!?!?!??!?!?! HELP

1. It is called a scarab. 2. You have to shoot its legs with explosives until it gets stunned. 3. You climb aboard. 4. There are 3 Floors, go to the back of the 2nd one. 5. There is a big shiny disc, smash it. 6. RUN LIKE HELL!

Destroy the legs, wait for it to come down and stop, jump in the back, then destroy the power cord. Hope this helped!

I don't recall a Big Crab anywhere in Halo 3..................Oh wait, you mean the Scarab, Board that mother -blamer- and shoot its core in the rear section of the deck, now when you get to the covenant, try doing that twice when two scarabs have you in there sights : ) Good luck.

don't shoot at the bottom bit. The core is round and is at the top. Go round the outside.

There are three ways to defeat a Scarab. 1.) Target one of its front legs with a somewhat powerful weapon. Missiles, explosives, any vehicles fire, etc... and as the armor falls off, it will eventually drop to the ground and sit still. At that moment, you need to climb onto it from the side ledges, the side doors, the open backside, any way you can. Once you're on it, get to the main deck outside it and walk to its rear. You should see a large glowing wall. Shooting it with anything a few times and the whole Scarab will blow up in 20 seconds. 2.) You don't need to damage a leg to make it accessible from the ground. If there's a jump nearby or somewhere up high that you can jump from and land onto the Scarab's back, then you can just walk to the back and destroy the power core like in the above explanation. 3.) You usually can't do this, but it is possible to shooting what can only be called its large glowing butt to destroy the wall blocking your line of fire directly into the core from far away. With any powerful weapon or vehicle, a couple shots to this part will cause it to explode. You can then try to shoot the power core of the Scarab from far away with a vehicle, rocket, or sniper rifle.

What you've been trying to destroy is nothing but a blue screen that is non-interactive and may just be the central computer that controls the Scarab. You have to go up the ramp and turn to the left or right and walk past the legs until you come to the "butt" of the scarab. You should see a shield device. Blow it up until the light behind it is red and then run for your life because after 15-20 seconds, the Scarab will detonate. I hope this helps.

I wish I knew about the knees the first time around (back in March). I blasted away at that thing with no effect, so I figured the 3 grav lifts in the building were the clue. I used the grav lift to jump off the top of the center building and onto the Scrab's back. It took me about 10 deaths to get the lift placed correctly and time the jump right. Once I was on board it was easy to mop up the remaining brutes/grunts and blow the reactor. So much easier the second time when I just took out the knees on my way to completing Legendary. There was a post on here a while back of a guy who took it down with a Mongoose and a marine riding on back with the rocket launcher. THAT was amazing. Foster
