Traveler theory
Perhaps the Traveler's intentions aren't to save the human race, but to get what it can out of it.
The Vex, The Fallen, The Cabal, and The Hive. What if these races are products of The Traveler's intentions to seek out civilizations and collect resources from them? What if the so called "Darkness" are just races of beings that seek revenge and to stop The Traveler?
But this doesn't explain why The Stranger sought to help us. If she wasn't forged in the light of The Traveler, then she would not have the same motives as the Guardian's to protect The Traveler.
So maybe The Traveler's intentions are to save us.

1 ReplyI think The Traveler and The Darkness are 2 godlike beings, one wholey good the other wholey evil. The Darkness is a sadistic being that, much like the joker, "just wants to watch the world burn, Mashta Wayne." Because the Darkness is so evil and unloving, it is strong, which causes the traveler to be driven into a corner and come upon a happy little planet called Earth. He studies humanity and realizes that we have good and bad within us, enabling us to fight the darkness. With his last breath (not really) he creates the ghosts and weapons that allow us to fight back the darkness (the light stat). The Hive are the creation of the darkness and follow its will. The Vex are a more badass Skynet that has a darkness Virus. The Cabal are purely conquerors that just want everything and will kill anyone in their way, I don't believe they serve The Darkness. The Fallen are tricky, I think they will blindly follow whoever leads them, maybe their Kell is under control of the Darkness, maybe not. The Stranger is simply a survivor of the collapse and therefore wasn't born in the light, maybe she's part of a secret organization that is against both The Traveler and The Darkness and she wants to recruit you. There's my 2 cents
