Location of The City
Down to the basics. We know that Destiny begins in Russia. As far as I'm aware, there are 3 Cosmodromes in Russia. Plesetsk, Vostochny, and Baikonur are their names. On our way to the city, we cross mountains with a broken down jumpship, so all 3 are valid.
I'l get straight to the point here, I can only assume the cosmodrome is Plesetsk, in north west Siberia. There's a shore nearby (Forgotten Shore?) and It's not to far from the Ural Mountains, on the other side of which could be the City. Vostochny is the one in construction now, but no shore to be seen. Baikonur has a lake/sea, and has mountains to the east and north, so it's also viable.
I truly believe that The city is on the east side of the Ural Mountains, but I'd love to know your opinions!

I think it is near baikonur, kazachstan. If you google 'Aral sea', you'll find images of a dried up shore and rusting ships, just like in the forgotten shore. And the aral sea is very close to baikonur.
