What the hell is the point of it? Is it another way to write lol? Please explain the origin of this on offtopic.

Rage comics would use the word 'le' as a substitute for 'the'. Then they started using it excessively. Then everyone parodied it by blowing it out of proportion, and one of the results of that was combining it with 'lol'.
