Hi all. This is my first time posting in here.
I wanted to bring up how Eris fits into the grand scheme of the hive. In a post that was made earlier this week, it was revealed to me that Eris derives her name from the Greek goddess of discord. In addition to this, Eris, in Greek mythology, started the Trojan War by tossing the Apple of Discord into a wedding party, causing three goddesses, Hera, Aphrodite, and Athena, all to fight over it. This made me think that the main Hive gods, Oryx, Savathun, and Xivu Arath, may be counterparts to the Greek gods.
First, the Hive gods were all born female, however that isn't necessary since Eris isn't hive at all and wouldn't fit in if we were going for a perfect copy of the myth. Second, each Hive god displays a quality similar to a Greek god. Oryx is the highest authority, so he would best resemble Hera, Queen of the Gods. Xivu Arath is best know as the warrior of the trio, so she's best fit with Athena, goddess of war. That leaves Savathun, the mother of the Hive, and Aphrodite, the goddess of procreation.
This leads me to conclude that Eris isn't working for the Hive, and is simply trying to destroy them from the inside. It would be fitting for her role.
Additional Note: In the final cutscene of the Taken King, Eris says "I will not fail you, my Queen." Most believe her to be referring to Savathun or Xivu Arath. This is not the case. In the grimoire, Ghost Fragment: Queen 2, Eris has a meeting with the Queen of the Reef. In it, she talks to her about her desire to destroy Oryx, not matter the cost. The Queen then prepares her fleet to meet the Dreadnaught, and the rest we know from the game.
Extra: I also took note that the Queen's brother is a former Guardian who lost his ghost like Eris. Eris says something about being on her last life and Uldren responds with saying that he is familiar with that "feeling." This explains why he has a Dark Below Hunter Vanguard armor set. He has the Lead Scout Cloak and either the Gravebreaker or Jackkinfe set.
Edit: The Queen's Brother seems to have no other indication of being a Guardian. His armor matching hunter armor is coincidental.
If anyone knows the original post I'm talking about, leave a message. Thank you for reading.

I want to add to this by pointing out that there is a vanguard pulse rifle from the Taken King that I used to use all the time called ....... the Apple of Discord. This suggests to me that we are metaphorically the Apple from the story. Perhaps what this will be is it will turn into a hive civil war between the remaining two hive gods. It's already in the works. The description for the sword Dreadfang says "I thank you kingly brother, for the gift of your failure...." presumably, that was one of the hive gods. What I think the this means is the hive gods want to kill us, not for revenge like for what Oryx wanted us dead for, but for power. The hive get more powerful by killing things more powerful than them, like an XP kind of thing. We became ascendant hive in order to get to Oryx to kill him. Now that we have killed the Taken King, we have become immensely powerful. So that would motivate the other hive gods to want to kill us, after all the three have always been at war for more power over the others Thinking so much on this has given way to multiple breakthroughs in the lore that I may post a full thread on what I've come up with later on after I collect the remaining calcified fragments so I have full access to the hive lore. I'm pretty sure I see what Bungie's doing
Eris is a symbol of the struggle of women in the 1920's to conform to the ever changing gender norms of a post-world war one society, amidst the disillusionment caused by the unprecedented casualties of the war
Good post, although I disagree with the stuff about Uldren. When Uldren says he knows the feeling, it can simply just be because he is not a Guardian so has never had the ability to be revived. I hav noticed his Hunter armor though and can't explain that unless it's just armor he found laying around just as we do

Who else remembers what that hunter armour was called?
Jacknife, how i miss you.
You can make many things mysterious yourself by coming up with a story, then knitpick certain things out of it and throw it all together. Seems like a certain game did this.

Wait so Savathun would be Aphrodite... excuse me I will just lock the door, brb in an hour.

Unless Mara Sov isn't really whom she seems to be, Queen of the Reef. She is quite the mysterious character. She has a coven, and powers well beyond any other awoken. Not to mention the awoken are her "adopted" family. "I remember everything about the day I was born. I still bear the scars. The Awoken are my family now. And I am their Queen." P.S I'm very interested in who Eris is working for/with. Be it Mara Sov, Savathûn.....or other. Although say Mara Sov is Savathûn ( not saying this is so). Since we left Oryx's "power" unclaimed. Could she try to claim it for Savathûn? Considering Savathûn is extremely cunning, and very patient.

Uldren isn't a Guardian. People simply mistake his comment about "knowing the feeling" to mean that he was once a Guardian. In reality, this is simply a snarky sarcastic reply to Eris' comment about death, for as a regular mortal, he can only live and die once.
