They rest on quiet fields afar...for this is no ending, but the eye. I am the one with the flame. The conflagration reborn. I am your funeral pyre. From the space between I come. Fragments of stars burn in my footsteps. In my hands I hold Death.
Long ago, an unnamed Titan created a powerful weapon. It was a heavy machine gun built with an experimental induction core. The few who obtained the powerful Thunderlords became legend, and became another part of the Thunderlord's songs.
The Titan who created the Thunderlord planned to create two variants of the weapon, one harnessing Solar energy, another with the power of the Void. These schematics were thought to be lost to time, for the Titan who created them fell at the Battle of Mare Imbrium. The event later known as the Great Disaster.
However, one day, the schematic for Nova Mortis mysteriously found its way back to the Tower. It was brought to the Vanguard who instructed the finder of the blueprints to construct the mighty weapon. Legends say that the creator of the Thunderlord worried that the Nova Mortis would be so powerful that it hurt its wielder. Stories even say that the House of Wolves under the command of Skolas the Rabid attempted to create their own variant of the Nova Mortis, but they were unsuccessful. Harnessing the Void Light within and the energies of the Hive, The Guardian constructed the Void weapon and became immortalized in the Song of the Nova Mortis.
The Vanguard took this a step further, however. Using the blueprints of the Nova Mortis and the weapon Thunderlord as base, they were able to reproduce the schematics for the final variant of the Thunderlord - the Solar powered Abbadon. The Guardian utilized their own Solar Light, Cabal machinery, and a prototype fusion modulation device to create the weapon. It was said to contain the power of a sun. How much of this is truth, and what is legend is not known, but the Abbadon was powerful enough to gain a song and legend of its own. And like the Thunderlords and Nova Mortises, the wielders of Abbadons will be immortalized in the weapon's anthem.

No one becomes legend with the Thunderlord. You do it with the Gjallarhorn.
I’ll have two number 9s, a number 9 large, a number 6 with extra dip, a number 7, two number 45s, one with cheese, and a large soda.
In the Necrochasm's grimoire card, it said that a lost Titan's auto rifle was turned into Necrochasm- after the Great Disaster. Maybe the Titan who created the machine guns also lost his auto rifle to the Hive which became Necrochasm?

The original flavor text of Thunderlord was: "Even in the Chaos of the Gap... one could make out its thunderous fire... leaving a sea of Fallen in its wake."

Okay, but what if that titan was Rezyl Azzir? He held the thunderlord originally. Rezyl is known mainly as a striker. Of course, that could just be coincidence.

Nice gun, poor recoil control for a weapon with that much 'thought' put into its design. What little recoil control it does have is traded with ammo capacity! Who ever heard of the number of bullets you carry equating to the accuracy/stability of the weapon, other than Bungie? Nice write up though. Thanks for the nice read...

I run mostly solo and until I got the Ghorn, Thunderlord was my go-to boss buster. I accidently soloed Oryx with The Devil You Know, a Vacancy, and Thunderlord. There's something incredibly satisfying about setting a tether in nice and deep, pulling out the T'lord, and just letting the big dog eat.

That's cool! Now that my Titan runs around with two of those guns, he's a part of that history.

Sorry to point this out but there was an error. Nova mortis but I'm pretty sure Nova mortis was found by the nine. That's why it was in the chest that requires xurs tag. Abadon got to the tower though.
