I don't think that St. 14 needs a shockwave. I personally like having enemies in the bubble, not pushing them out. As for the rest, yes, defender is slightly lacking in some ways. Especially in PVP. I make do, but I often feel the need to switch to striker. At the very least, make the ward a little more durable.
