Rand Paul is one of the only beacons left in this forsaken political system. He speaks the truth and is not afraid to go against what special interest groups want.
Leave the Middle-East alone and let them get their shit together. Being there is the reason why groups like Al-Qaeda want to attack western nations. And if that means people like Assad stay in power then that's what will happen. After all, they may utilize unconventional methods but it suppresses a power vacuum and jihad groups that go with it

I'm afraid that you're mistaking him for his father. His father was the real hope that was consistent with his ideology and was against the establishment. I may be a little cynical, but I think that Rand has bought into the Washington way of doing things. That or he sees how ostracized his father was by the media and he's always being politically correct so it doesn't happen to him.
