Kids aren't experienced or knowledgeable enough to understand these things. Sociologists understand why bathrooms are separated by sex in most places. For colleges or business buildings, it's not that big of a deal to have gender neutral bathrooms. But highly public places where both men and women can share the same bathroom (assuming simultaneously) would result in some frequent problems.
