I understand the Futurama reference but I think the problem I am noticing today is many parents consider the T.V or Xbox to be their kids' virtual nanny and instead of them taking responsibility for their children's well being, they want the Government or a Corporation to do it for them.

That is the main problem, and if the kids get hurt or in trouble for their actions, the parents usually try and blame anyone else but themselves. Did you know that people have been sued for kids drowning in their pools because the owner didn't have a gate. Even though the parents were not watching their children and the kids were trespassing. That makes me angry because of how ridiculous it is.
