People just prefer consoles. The majority I think anyways. I would love to game on my laptop but the biggest issue for me is money. Consoles are inexpensive compared to a good customized gaming PC...that's a major putoff. Especially when I could get the same entertainment value on console.

You have got to consider the sound system, TV station as well as the TV and followed by the console itself, all that run well into the $3000 mark as well. I guess it gets down to would you prefer one system over the other. Personally I have come to detest consoles due to its lack of customizability both in the hardware as well as the modabilty of the software/games.

Whoa. 3000$ a year on games? I don't even break 300$ a year. I'm assuming people often times already have the TV to play their consoles on and a good sound system could just be a pair of headphones or just the TV speakers. I don't want to shell out the big bucks just to game. I want to support my hobby but I want to put my money to other uses too.
