The problem I have with semi-auto guns is that they're quite already close to being fully automatic deathmachines. My friend had bought a semi auto rifle and WITH A SHOESTRING changed it to fully auto. I think we should ban semi auto firearms also.

由Prometheus25編輯: 1/16/2013 7:33:15 PMI am very much afraid of the well being of our children in school. When I am a parent, I want to know, to the best degree possible, that my son or daughter will be safe. It is completely unacceptable not to pass laws that enforce manufacturers to produce safe products. I see dozens of innocent kids on the school buses as I am traveling to and from work, and the thought of many of them getting hurt, or suffering a terrible and tragic fate, is heart-wrenching. It's up to us pass regulations and ENFORCE these issues. Will you look into your future son's eyes, or lie to your future daughter, telling them you will do everything possible to protect them? This is why automobile manufactures must only produce vehicles that can't exceed 70MPH. If some leadfoot who isn't paying attention, disregarding the safety of these CHILDREN by talking on a cell phone, they could hit one of these school buses as RIDICULOUS speeds, causing these poor, innocent children to die.

由MurcSpyder編輯: 1/16/2013 7:20:40 PMSemi-automatic just means that it fires ONE round every time you squeeze the trigger, and that the next round loads in the process. A revolver is a semi-automatic firearm and it is nowhere close to being a fully automatic military weapon.

1 回覆由Recon Number 54編輯: 1/16/2013 3:33:15 PMIf I had a choice between a semi-automatic rifle and a full, I would choose the semi. Without hesitation and every time. Full auto is a pointless and almost useless feature in nearly every application and use other than suppression fire in combat. Full auto is a waste of ammunition (do you know how long those "dangerous" 30 round mags last on full auto with a cyclic rate of 600-700 rpm), target acquisituion and proper aim is lost, and they are murder on the system as far as heat, wear and tear. The only people who think that rate of fire, magazine size, or accessories are what make a firearm "super lethal" are the same twats who think that the AR and AK platforms are "high-powered rifles". In other words, they watch way too many movies, watch WAY too much television news and action shows, and know little to nothing about the things that terrify them into fear-based reactions.

The problem with gun regulation is just like you said - there are easy ways around it that anyone can do in their garage. That can't be prevented by the gun manufacturer in any meaningful way. So like you said, that regulation in and of itself doesn't do much in the way of crime prevention. Same thing if you decided to ban certain types of ammunition - anyone with any sense could make their own if they wanted to.
