What Is The Hunter Identity Exactly?

Titan is like a tank - the easiest methods to get damage resistance, the strongest abilities, and exotics mostly geared toward damage output or survivability Warlock is the mage - the strongest "magic" if you will, they're all about ability spam and controlling the battlefield, some team support tied in, with most exotics simply increasing ability uptime or improving support roles Hunter is... the weapons class? - not really, because almost nothing in their subclass or exotic kits really promote higher weapons performance outside of a few options like On Your Mark or Lucky Pants. And I'm not including weapon stats like "handling and reload speed", as performance boosts, because that doesn't actually make your weapons better, and like every other Hunter exotic has that. So what is Hunter supposed to be exactly? I assume they are the "weapons" class because all their supers are just weapons imbued with paracausal powers: knives, guns, bows, blades, staffs, kamas, and a ropedart. Also they have some of the weakest abilities, other than supers kinda, with not a lot of ways to increase their uptime. It seems like each Hunter subclass also has a completely different identity than the last, whereas Titan and Warlock have more consolidated general subclass outlines (for example, Titan is generally focused on having stronger abilities and ways to heal or gain damage resistance, across all subclasses). Hunter right now is either the "dodge + melee" class, or just the "PvP" class. And I think Bungie is too scared to expand their capabilities in PvE, because as soon as Hunter has a semi-decent ability that doesn't require a whole subclass build to work, it will just be endless whining from PvP players, forcing their hand to nerf it in some way.
