the amonut of items you have is heavily regulated for balance ans engagement but also for server space hundreds and thousands of players with constantly shifting inventory creates sizable internet traffic and without decicaded servers space is a huge problem thats why the vault lags guns with multi perks take up more space so a vaults that is empty will not lag but if its full and you have a lot of multiple perk guns it takes forever to load same for shaders and ornaments all that data got to be processed and can cause problems if not manged properly and with cross platform play the connection is already strained having different hardware running the game at different rates and variable internet connection speeds it can create bottlenecks that wont have any one solution
