It was easy to miss, a mind is a mind right? Yet in Destiny, there is the unique Exomind. That incorporates Darkness (the power of consciousness) and Vex Radiolaria. Commonly called Alkahest: a substance made of Radiolaria and Darkness made by Clovis Bray on Europa. Which is somehow combined with the Exomind to help resist DER, the rejection of the body which leads to death. Not a whole lot about the potential drawbacks of such a concoction is mentioned really. I mean beyond it having a subconscious effect on all Exos that makes them see things in their dreams…the same sort of things? Things that took real people and real places and had completely different events play out? Question: Why does Saint think he’s from a simulation. Answer: His memories don’t match Osiris’ over one(?) event. That’s all I’ve seen so far, one. And there lies the potential for him to be manipulated and really, if they don’t use it it’s a waste cause it’s been setup rather nicely. But oddly there is little detail on how the Alkahest works in the actual Exo Body. Where do you think their brain is and what’s in there with it? Cause we know an Exo without a head doesn’t function. So their brain chip/matrix/whatever medium, is up there. How would it work though? What’s inside their skull? I’d take the ghost in the shell anime direction, a container holding an artificial mass (whatever medium the digital copy is stored in) suspended in a solution of Aklahest to get the constant interaction needed. Now it wouldn’t need to be big, you’d only need enough fluid to cover it. So it could relatively small compared to the brain sized cases used in Ghost in the Shell. I don’t see how you could use wires to “transfer” this sort of effect, ya know? Radiolaria works by contact, far as we know. So every Exomind has Vex swimming in their friggin noggin, connected to Darkness power which affects consciousness. I mean, this is setup like kids t-ball. This mixture is what helps the mind accept their reality, helps fool the instinctual rejection of the artificial nature of the body.
