Restructuring the Crucible for Replayability

I believe that the whole SBMM vs CBMM debate that's been going on for months (years, realistically) is due to the lack of incentives to even play Crucible. Here are my ideas on how to shake up this incredibly stale state of PvP outside of sandbox changes (laning and team-shooting with pulse/scout rifles is kind of boring in my opinion, but that's a different conversation to be had). The [b]Quickplay[/b] playlist should be connection based matchmaking, but needs significantly better lobby balancing to prevent blowouts. Skill should be a factor, but not to the same degree as it is today. -This playlist can be used to complete bounties and quests. -Rewards from Lord Shaxx for rank-ups stay the same. The current Competitive playlist should be renamed the [b]Ranked[/b] playlist, and should be rank based matchmaking only. Would use current Comp ranks; copper, bronze, silver, gold, platinum, etc.. -The seasonal/annual "trophy" weapon (e.g. Rose) should be rewarded for completing your 3 matches weekly, but also when you enter a new rank for the first time that season (Bronze into Silver, Silver into Gold, Gold into Platinum, etc.). -A shader, an emblem to match the shader, and bright dust for each rank-up could be used as more incentive to grind this playlist to the end of a player's capabilities. -A title (e.g. Glorious), with it's hardest triumph being to reach Platinum, can be worked on during the player's Ranked campaign. -When seasonal resets occur, ranked points will be awarded based on the player's rank from the prior season. With the current Competitive playlist renamed as the Ranked playlist, a third playlist, now with the name [b]Competitive[/b] playlist, should skill based matchmaking. It would use the old ranks; Guardian, Brave, Heroic, Fabled, Mythic, Legend) Given that this would be the hardest matchmaking, it should have the most incentive. -Pinnacle drops (+1) should be rewarded for reaching a new rank for the first time that season. -An emblem to show off your rank. -A shader for reaching Fabled. -A memento for reaching Mythic the first time. Winning matches in the Mythic (and Legend) rank would award a small chance to reobtain the memento. -Reaching Legend rank should offer an exclusive ornament for that season/year's "trophy" weapon and an upgraded version of the Competitive emblem. -The Unbroken title can be returned and gilded further. I know having three separate playlists might spread out the playerbase a bit, but I believe that it would keep the "sweats" busy with reward chasing and out of the Quickplay playlist more while allowing them to play a casual game (in an incredibly casual, ability-based game) every now and then. Casual players would find themselves in less games where a "PvP god" is dominating the entire lobby. The Ranked and Competitive playlists would also allow casual players, who are looking to hone their skills to become better, a place to gauge their progress while chasing rewards for themselves.   • I can appreciate your thoughts. That said, Bungie doesn’t care and year over year they continue to almost intentionally make things worse. They don’t want to deal with PvP so adding incentives would be counterproductive to their mission to kill it off.
