They have some of the highest total damage in the game, higher than Anarchy, Whisper, Leviathans Breath, 5 20-stack parasite shots, and more, while also having more DPS than most other options. They're insanely efficient.
An ideal nerf is to cut back on their dps (7-13%) while maintaining or mildly nerfing their total damage (-7% - 0%).

I disagree, and I agree with what the OC had recommended, bringing the damage of other heavy weapons up to par with Linear Fusions. Linear Fusions deal an ungodly amount of damage, true. But they are what all heavy weapons should be. They are heavy weapons most with very limited ammo capacity. Why should I be able to out damage most of them by using something such as Arabalest.
-
Okay, you can not outdamage a heavy linear by using Arbalest. The numbers are impossible. Unless you are hitting all crits while the heavy linears are not. They have some of the highest ammo efficiency in the game, with perks like triple tap, fttc, and field prep. They're, of course, limited by their heavy-ammo-nature, but they still get about a full magazine per brick, which equates to a lot of damage (2 ish 20x parasite shots). I agree that they should be a base power level for heavies, but they're already the highest bar of damage. They need to be toned down.

No no, sorry, I worded my post badly, I was saying outdamage the others as in outdamaging non Linear Fusions. Rocket Launchers, Grenade Launchers, etc. Arbalest especially whilst hitting all critical and it's large ammo pool can out dps most non Linear fusion heavy weapons.

Ah! And indeed you're right, and that needs to be changed. I agree. I still maintain that heavy linears need to be toned down. Slightly. Machine guns are nearing viability, but their intended space is ad clear and miniboss takedowns. Rocket launchers have almost half the total damage of a base linear. Gjallarhorn is there to help, but the archetype is too reliant on it. It's performance also dips when you're reloading over and over again, and it's very ideal to hotswap, but its a difficult skill to learn, which gatekeeps rls even more. Gls are only intended for burst damage, but need to do their job better. They're still outmatched by other options that are just better. Swords are in a good place. Most bosses don't let that good place happen though.

Yeah, the best survivability outside of forced healing, which I don't remember the name, but it's the aspect for arc that makes it to where when you are surrounded you take less damage. Pretty sure it's Spark of Resistance.
