Season 19 idea, melee 2.0

Fix them, warlocks and hunters melees dont register a lot of times, especially warlocks. Just make new system that allows it to be good.

  • Melee 2.0, add new melee weapons like axes, hammers, flails, dual daggers, weapon/shield combos, scythes. Glaives are cool, but if we had tons of different melee weapon types, it would be really awesome to see. Each type could have its own unique set of perks to roll onto it, with a number of other perks being universal melee perks. Imagine a hammer having a slam attack that cracks the ground in a small area and does an aoe, or an axe that increases enemy damage taken from all sources when you light attack 3 times quickly or use a heavy attack. What about daggers that do increased damage from behind? Or a weapon and shield where the shield can be used to reflect projectiles or just block them in general? What about a scythe where heavy attacks gather enemies closer to you for easier cleanup? Lots of ideas could be used for melee weapons, and it could be seriously awesome if implemented properly. After all, the game is heading in a direction where you delete rooms anyways... why not make melee weapons follow that trend and make em really cool to use? Make them more than just a left and right click that either makes you spin around or uppercut stuff.

    • If I had a dollar for every time my warlock was flying above a pack of ads, and tried to use incinerator’s snap just to lunge 5+ feet into the middle of them, I’d have at least $50.

      • Or maybe bring warlocks and Titans just straight up... to par with the amount of melee abilities hunters have.

      • That's only like 4 months away. Bungie would need at least a year in advance to start implementing something as big as adjusting melee

          • Feel like they need to remove the auto-targeting and lunge (forward movement of your hit box) on the melee altogether, and instead, make melee just a frontal hitbox cone. Instead of perks increasing lunge-range, they would just increase the length and/or width of the cone. This should make the hit-reg much more consistent (as hitboxes don't decide to miss each other after a dice roll) and melee attacks would be able to cleave multiple enemies in a cone, making it a semi-viable option at attacking several enemies at once when getting rushed or surrounded (especially helpful for Arc 3.0 and it's focus on melee combat).

                Sounds like a skill issue [spoiler]i’m joking, but the mapping patterns between the base melee and the charged ones seem to mess up with the auto targeting mechanic[/spoiler]

                  It's not just the melee it's certain grenades too Arc in general acts up like it's bugged ArcBolt Grenade doesn't chain at times in which ruins lucky raspberry at certain times Storm Grenade at times a mob standing in it get like 60% damage due to random strikes Skip grenades got nerfed Twice the second and third skip got less tracking making it at certain time not follow at all then recently the damage was lowered Yea basic melee needs some work and Arc most likely will make it more apparent due to Arc focus alot more on melee then the other classes I'm sick of unregistered hits even when you all in their face I really hope Arc 3.0 lands good and not mediocre
