The ends don't justify the means. Even if her intentions seem good (to her), they are still incredibly selfish and harming to those she interacts with. For example, even before regaining her memories, she was actively trying to seal the Traveler into her throne world, which would've cut us off completely from the Light and doom us for when the Witness inevitably arrives again.

The Traveler is only concerned about itself and its mission. It doesn't care about the fallout of any of its decisions. It just focuses on 'gardening' more and more 3. A kind of combination of both. The Traveler is only focused on itself because its good and the Darkness will destroy everything. Same way we are to our species and really any species. The Traveler is a separate entity/faction and we just have a mutual benefit. We are not the same and the Traveler seemingly has its own duties. . Maybe we're just selfish of our own survival that we risk also the Traveler's survival. Remember we have also accepted the Darkness in us no matter how little. Maybe thats how the collapse happened. Maybe the Traveler knows this was how things got corrupted. Maybe thats why Travelers are so rare and scared because its on a losing battle against the Darkness and its just trying to survive. We are on a crossroad meanwhile the Traveler may have found a new/better champion with Savathun and the Lucent Hive. Either way everyone has their own agenda and whats good for one may not be good for others. Maybe its just about the balance. . Its a challenging concept on morality and goodness really that idk if most people will understand. People find it easier to justify saving their own race.

Of those three views, #2 is the closest to what the story is telling us. The Traveler isn't concerned about any particular individual or even race. It's simply concerned with winning the Flower Game, which is why it continuously ditched many civilizations whenever the Darkness arrived and corrupted/destroyed the lives that the Traveler uplifted. Humanity isn't any more special in regards to other uplifted life; we were simply lucky enough for the Traveler to stay back and fight for once. Humanity accepting the Darkness didn't bring about the Collapse. What brought about the Collapse was the Black Fleet arriving to Sol and proceeding to curbstomp us. If anything, Humanity has just recently accepted that Light isn't inherently good (as the Warlords have shown) and Darkness isn't inherently bad (as how Elsie and our Guardian show). They are neutral forces, tools, that can be shaped and utilized however their wielders see fit, and it will be through that use that Humanity is looking to avoid a second Collapse.

1. This isn’t true. We know it for a fact. Darkness power isn’t evil. 2. This is mostly true. It cares but let’s civilizations determine their own course, good or bad. Which is a good and bad thing. 3. The Traveler is focused on not letting the Witness destroy the entire cosmos. Losing some of it to save the rest is likely acceptable to the God. So we are expendable to it. We know how the Collapse happened. The Black Fleet caught up to the Traveler and we had an epic battle that lasted two days. Darkness has the potential to corrupt. That’s what makes it dangerous. If you don’t fall to the corruption, you’re fine. Our Guardian isn’t corrupted. It’s not about morality. The Traveler has uplifted civilizations that subjugated others. It’s just about survival and being willing to sacrifice pawns to do so.
