Switching builds is getting to be too much now.
If I want to play solar for a bit and switch to void, then I have to switch every single armor piece to a different element. That’s 5 upgrade modules which have a cap.
If I want to switch back, that’s 5 more.
Arc is only going to make this worse.
It’s gotten to the point where I don’t even bother switching. I can’t enjoy all the subclass builds anymore, which sucks.
Please make it free to switch elements so I can actually enjoy playing all the builds I have.

I believe with masterworked armor it's much cheaper to switch elements on the armor I think it's just glimmer and maybe 1 upgrade module very cheap

Or...and this is Bungie's intention...you can grind for four sets of armor to have all your bases covered.

You should've seen it before WQ you had to essentially pay the same materials that you used upgrading it to swap meaning with Exotics unless you farmed GM's every day you couldn't really afford swapping those

Weapon crafting/build crafting is the direction this game is heading, in fact it's already here. I believe it's in the games best interest to make switching elements cheaper. There are over well over 100 mods, the majority of them are element specific. Every character has over 30 Exotic armour pieces, many are designed for a very specific build, and if you want to to get the most out of them; you need to buildcraft, aka switch your elements. This game's core is centred around repetitive grinding; I'm not knocking the game down, but that's what it is. Personally I have to keep myself interested by constantly using new weapons, and buildcrafting. I'm sure other's do that as well, more or less. If your a new player, or remember what it's like, the game is very expensive with in game currency. Everything in the game is a grind. I think it's going to be okay if they make switching elements free; if anything it could increase playtime, and niche exotic usage.

You know you don't have to switch every armour piece to match you subclass, right? Some of the best mods are neutral like Font of Might. And all the seasonal class item mods are neutral too. Why not build different armour sets for each element? Do you use anything like DIM or D2ArmourPicker? I personally have 1 Stasis build, 2 Void builds and currently 3 Solar builds that I switch between. I've been focusing armour at the Crown in the Helm in preparation for Arc next season. Don't keeo switching elements dude, get more armour.

No! Play the game, use the resources you acquire, that's how it's supposed to work. It's not like it's that expensive.

It’s extremely cheap to switch affinities, I remember when it cost an arm and a leg to switch. Lmao now people are complaining again about it.

On the one hand I’ll always believe that we shouldn’t even have elemental affinities to armor. It’s not like we get anything intrinsic from it, like elemental damage resistance. Nope, that too is a mod. At best Bungie has to it because the engine an UI can’t handle that many mods at one time. At worst Bungie just doesn’t want to get rid of the system and just keep doubling down on it. On the other hand, take your ADHD medication so you can stop feeling like you need to completely change your entire elemental build every 10 minutes. It’s only expensive if you’re indecisively jumping from solar to void to stasis to arc like it’s some meta game within the game to see how many times in a hour you can do it.
