I'm having serious trouble being able to play from a sudden illness

I ended up dizzy a few weeks ago and then started feeling faint. After a bit I went to the doctor and they gave me Meklizine and it made things worse so I ended up in the ER. After another visit to a clinic they tell me I need a few more tests and that most likely have Meniere's disease. I've been feeling Soo terrible lately that I have not been able to play much and it sucks! I'm mostly a solo player and kind of OCD when it comes to completing stuff. The game is in a great state right now and Bungie is only making it better and I'm exited for the PvP changes and stuff. I have a title I want to guild and several tht have 1 triumph left or triumphs that are partially done that I feel I'll never be able to finish and it's a bummer.I do play maybe 3 or 4 days a week, I'm having trouble playing for more than a few hours at a time and love the game. I'm in tears all the time now from this crap! I'm hoping all you Guardians are doing well and in good health and staying safe! And kick some butt for me

Hey m8. I can fully relate to what you’re dealing with. I live in British Columbia, Canada and will come back to this further down. Experienced the same symptoms (and still to this day) starting in August 2015. I had what could only be described as a “micro blackout” while at work. Immediately following that, my balance and equilibrium felt as though the world had been tilted forward and that I could fall forwards, rolling forever. Boss drove me home and I made my way to the walk-in clinic in my building. Initial physical tests determined that there were some crystals that may have built up in my Eustachian tube in my right ear. Had some exercises to do while I was off work to move the crystals back to where they wouldn’t cause the dizziness. These exercises did not work and my symptoms worsened. Saw my Dr. again and they also mentioned Meniere’s disease could be the culprit. Went to physiotherapy where more exercises were done, to no avail. I was then sent for an MRI which found nothing. Sent to a ENT Specialist where there was no results to connect why I was feeling the way I was. My fiancé and I did some digging into my symptoms and we came upon Lyme disease. I talked with my Dr. about it and it was immediately dismissed as the cause. But, something didn’t sit well with that. While my Dr. referred me to a Neurologist, I visited a Naturopath while on the wait list for the Neurologist. I explained everything and they asked if I’d ever heard of Lyme Disease. I had a blood sample taken and sent to California for analysis. A few weeks later, the results came back with positive markers for Lyme Disease and an over 80% accuracy for said markers. Brought the results to my Dr. who dismissed the report because “Lyme Disease doesn’t exist here. It can’t cross the mountains because it’s too cold.” Finally, got in to see the Neurologist who performed their own tests, again, to no avail. Brought my results from the Lyme Test for them to review. The Neurologist literally laughed in my face and said, “These tests don’t qualify here in British Columbia because they were done outside of the country.” I asked about a provincial test that could be recognized and was told it doesn’t exist because Lyme isn’t in B.C. I replied that’s strange because we have treatments for dogs and cats here in B.C., ticks are everywhere and mosquitoes are also known carriers for the disease. I was then told there was nothing they could do and that further consultation would not be available. Well, back to the Naturopath and by this time, I was going on nearly a year with my symptoms. We began treatments and IV sessions and within a few months, I was finally starting to feel better. I still have bad episodes of those symptoms from time to time but, it’s no longer all day, every day. So, here in B.C., our wonderful medical system does not recognize nor acknowledge the possibility that humans can contract Lyme Disease. I know this was a long read and if you made it this far, thank you. I hope that wherever you reside has the resources and support for this awful disease as I feel more people suffer from this than the medical system is recognizing. If you wanna chat more, shoot me a DM and I’ll be happy to talk more. Eyes up, Guardian.

Step away Get your head around the illness/condition Speak to your doctor, family & close friends - let them know you’re stressed out Creating a healthy mind will help - everything else can wait And I see you’re in a clan…. Have a word with the founder/admins (you don’t need to let on details about your personal stuff, just the in game things that you are trying to finish) Get yourself a fireteam & enjoy the company of people you might just laugh & joke with If they won’t help Get a better clan I’m sure there’s folk on here (on your Steam platform) that will mic up & hell you out 👍 Good Luck Chin up, Guardian!

  • Take care don't push yourself. I have ms & sometimes deal with numbness, vision issues, muscle cramps, etc. Was on disability several months a couple years in a row during d1. Remember playing IB with a numb left hand & partial vision on right eye, fun times. Just stay focused on getting better, negate the negative mindset the best you can.

  • Hope you feel better soon , or are able to control the symptoms better . Not gonna lie , I don’t know much about what you have but it doesn’t feel really good to have something you like doing taken from you . If anyone can overcome something it’s a guardian!

        • I am sorry this has happened to you , my wife also suffers from random dizziness that she has gotten no explanation for, they just tell her it's vertigo, despite her being too young and send her home , and she is in tears because she was hoping they could make it stop or tell her why this is happening, but she just has to deal with it and be scared every time she has an episode, all I can do is hold her hand and try to reassure her she is ok So I know what you are dealing with, and hope you can feel back to normal soon

          • Ah that’s crummy mate!. Sorry to read this and hope that you will be able to deal with this setback and get it to settle down. Your health is more important than D2 as much as you enjoy it but I hope you can find a way to keep on playing as much as possible. Keep positive guardian and see you on the battlefield.

            • Sorry to hear. I hope for the best through said road you are on. Mentally, you just have to let go. I get your state of mind, but this game is not life, it is a guilty pleasure per-say. Onward and upward. If you do not complete anything you wish you had through this, just look at it as a mark in your timeline of life while playing this game. A reminder if you will. Why? Because you will put up a hell of a fight to get through this and will look back at your real life triumphs that are far more important than the incomplete ones in the game. Stay strong my friend.

              • I’m not a hundred percent sure what the point of this post is, if I’m being completely honest, but playing this game or missing out on it rather should be the last thing to worry about for you. If anything it’s a good thing to take a break and deal with what’s really important.

But the game isn't in a great state right now. At least PvP wise. The changes coming to PvP don't address the sandbox enough much less address the broken match making.

                              • OP, that's overpressure inside you ear. I know, you know that too, I just like to tell you that I understand your disease. Right now (as much as it is "S" point point point), it's super important that you give yourself rest. Generally, it's containable. Take good care of yourself!

                                • Pace yourself, pace yourself! I have never been able to finish a raid - I get exhausted too quickly, and learning new things takes forever. But I can still get some things done, even if it means I play a couple strikes, then log out and rest. Break your gaming time up - it may not feel like a 'proper session' but I assure you that you'll still get things done. It may not be quick, or perfect, but sometimes you have to look at the task different, break it down into chunks, rather than try to get your triumph or whatever done all in one sitting. I am a new player, and this game was a nightmare for me to learn (I essentially used it as cognitive therapy, and the first month was HELL). It isn't easy, it requires a lot of concentration, and you are going to need to rest after the game. It's ok. Don't rush, and give yourself time to heal up, or you body will MAKE you. I wish you all the best, and will give you a /wave if I see you around.
