Guided games is the ideal form of raid matchmaking. 3 clanmates to Sherpa you, with 3 noobies. In a perfect world, the 3 Sherpas can easily carry the whole raid while the other 3 are on ad clear. The reason why it doesn't work is because we're not perfect. Players are the problem. The Sherpas are not full carries. People can't take the 2-3+ hour raid. Frustration hits in. No mics. Eventually leading to failure. It's why alot of endgame players know optional matchmaking for higher level content never works. It's fine for something braindead where a team never fails like seasonal activities, but never for raids.

This is not a guided game. It is a hard carry. A guided game is intended to teach people the mechanics and let them do them as well, not just say "stand over there and kill things while we do all the work." Eventually leading to failure.[/quote] Of course players are the problem. Players are the problem in the failure through lfg or in a full clan run as well. Plenty of sherpas are the problem as well. I've been in plenty of "teaching runs" with other players leading where the leader had no patience and barely explained any mechanics then didn't understand why there were failures. You would have the same problems as already exist. There's not really much more to say here and this is not the topic of discussion here as it has already been beaten to death over and over by people.

  • The problems with lfg can be solved with a simple player pick up or joining a new group. The problems with guided games makes for a full stop if 1 player gives up. It is why guided games has been in beta since forever. Low incentive and extreme failure rate is not worth the time.

  • You realize if a player quits, you can invite someone else in? The entire point of this post is to provide solutions to those issues and incentivize it to alleviate the things you just stated. The crowd against any form of in game matchmaking in game really gets tiresome on these forums.
